Untitled (Let them Eat) 30 Day Performance November 2025 . During the Eleventh Month of the Year 2025, I engaged in a strict food fast where I'd only eat food when in social community encounters. The cultural background of the month featured a government shutdown, Food Stamp funding freeze, American Thanksgiving Celebrations, global famines, along with the start of holiday shopping for retailers like myself. . The fast was a way for me to better understand the social relationship fostered by food, my own personal anxiety around cooking and eating, demonstrating camaraderie or solidarity with the hungry, and to develop a better personal practice of journalling about my life. . I recorded my fast's progress on Felix Gonzalez-Torres' "Untitled (Party Platform - 1980-1992)." I had visited that show right before the shutdown and snagged a few pieces of that work. I admire his quiet yet deafening symbolism, gestures, and creations. I wanted to take this Line of Flight further in a 2025 context. How might party platforms, social relations, nutrition access, and culture become ever more intertwined? . The medium of the work was fasting.I grew up thinking fasting was just a religious activity yet have come to see it as a tool for other goals in medicine, athletics or mental health. During my fast, I was reading "Absence" by Byung-Chul Han instead of eating. . The resulting work, for now from this project is this 'drawing' recording my meals, food intake, and social company over 30 days. The world might grow or be documented in other ways like receipts from eating out, pots and pans used, empty food packaging, or just the plates used. . People have been asking me lately if I still make art. Let's grab a coffee or noodles and talk about that question.
