My Final Days Teaching
There were parts of this experience when I thought that my final days would go by with little emotion from me. I thought that the only emotion I would have was going home and seeing my friends and family. I honestly could not have been more wrong. This week has gone by so quickly and now it is Thursday; my final day of teaching and I honestly have a constant sad feeling and lump in my throat. I am going to miss these children so much. I am going to miss this country so much. The last couple of days have just been so so lovely. My last lessons with P6 (which will always be a little bit special to me because they were only my classes) were surprisingly very sad. I played games with all three classes all lesson and they obviously loved it. All the children, once realising I was leaving were really sad and rushed to hug me and ask for my Facebook and Line ( a Thai app a bit like Whatsapp) . I was most shocked by my P6/6 class! After thinking they hated me I came to the end of lessons and was showered by cards and even some flowers. It was very sweet. I will miss them and I do feel bad that each week they will now have one less lesson with a native English speaker because of course we will not be getting replaced. Hopefully I did help them though! Below are some final pictures with them.
Another surprise that I got was when the Philippines teacher Kevin presented me with an envelope. Inside he had drawn a beautiful picture and I honestly was so tocuhed at the time he had spent on the present. It was so nice of him.
Last night (Wednesday) some of the teachers took myself, Becca and the competition winners for ice-cream. WOW. Such good ice cream that I honestly am so glad I did not try before hand! I would be rolling back to England otherwise! It was so nice to spend time outside of school with them! The children asked us not to leave and trying to explain to them that we had to was actually really difficult!
Tomorrow we are leaving around 1pm where we will (hopefully) arrive at the Ambassador in time for our farewell dinner. Beforehand the school is celebrating it's birthday so school is closed for the students and we have monks coming in. I thought it was quite a nice occasion that we would be able to at least celebrate a little part of it! I honestly will be very sad to leave and the thought of having my final classes with my adorable P1's and my amazing P2's really upsets me! On a happier final note....After nominating Rebecca for her ice bucket challenge she completed it and then nominated Teacher Yam and Neil. It was so funny and so satisfying to put ice water on Neil who is the sassiest boy I know. Sweet revenge for all his mean "honest" comments!
