What was the most important thing I learned from Grap2199?
“Everything will be OK“
Ask Me Anything!
I thought it would be a good idea to share the finished product of my Ask me Anything! assignment, I created a jam-packed and vibrant interactive A5 book to represent the colourful and paper filled world of Tommy Perez.
All images were taken from the Instagram page and Website of Tommy Perez, I am quite pleased with how the book turned out, the binding was by stitching in the centre of the pages and hard folding of 200 gsm paper.
Reflection on Semester
My personal objectives of this semester was to learn as much knowledge as I could and produce the best work of my ability. It was quite challenging as I'm used to doing most of the work in class so making time for homework was quite challenging for me as I work a lot so it was a bit of a juggling act.
Unfortunately my first assignment which was my question I ran out of time and didn't produce my best work but was just happy to be able to submit it on time.
On the plus side I'm extremely happy with my Zine that I produced. I discovered how to make a Zine that I'm really grateful to lean as it's a skill I'm able to take away from this subject that I never knew what to do.
I was really interested in the Memphis Group and was quite fond of the lamp called "Tahiti" by Ettore Sottsass. I really think his lamp was the heart of the Memphis Movment. Was also interested to see that when it was made you could pick it up for $20 now it sells for over $2000!
I will be exploring Zine design further and would love to produce a Zine with everything I have produced at the end of the year.
But for now bring on the holidays!
Finally finished my 16 page Zine. Feels good submitting this assignment. Lots of organisation and hours spent on this assignment definitely paid off. #lastdayfeels

Taking about how emojis can change the way we can perceive words. Say that's sick and adding the "haha" emoji can give it a fun meaning as if I was to use the "sad" emoji could give the word a sad meaning to it.
Setting up Zine in InDesign. Really helpful tool to help with my final. Excited to get stuck into this and get printing
Finding letterforms and shapes from magazines, and then using these shapes to build a zine from scratch. Was good to see overall layouts and how pages when opened up were upside down and the location of them was quite interesting
An iconic "Tahiti" lamp by Ettore Sottsass for Memphis. Capturing the spirit of the Memphis movement, the lamp is composed of metal, wood and laminate in the abstract form of a bird. Really interesting design in my eyes. Great use of colour. Was designed in the 1981 which I think is great for that time period. These sort of designs would definitely impact the way we design today.
Learning how to make a "Zine" (small magazine). Easy way to find where pages need to be laid out for printing. Very useful for the project I will be producing

Emil Ruder was a typographer and graphic designer who, born in Switzerland in 1914, helped Armin Hofmann form the Basel School of Design and establish the style of design known as Swiss Design. He taught that, above all, typography's purpose was to communicate ideas through writing. He placed a heavy importance on sans-serif typefaces and his work is both clear and concise, especially his typography.
DIY Typeface with shapes. 3 step job. As the progression went on we built on the type face as we were given extra shapes starting off with the blue shape.. We added a orange highlights and then a yellow joint. 1. Blue 2. Orange 3. Yellow
Pacioli's Alphabet First person to use correct balance in the shapes of the letters of the alphabet. 1503

Aboriginal rock art has been around for a long period of time, with the oldest examples, in Western Australia's Pilbara region and the Olary district of South Australia, estimated to be up to around 40,000 years old
