jean walks every morning. sometimes he'll go into town, sometimes to his favorite river, and others the clearing behind the house. it clears his head from the memories of yesterday and whatever went through his mind during the night.

he always gets back before you wake up. his favorite part of the day is the quiet moments that he can curl up with you after. it's what keeps him going.

today, he decided to bring you a gift while he was out. normally, every monday he'll drive into town and get you a fresh bouquet of flowers for the vase on the kitchen counter. he's always felt like it was too easy, the florist did most of the work. he's gonna try out something different this morning.

he passes beautiful flowers and ferns and plans out in his head the most beautiful arrangement that you'll like. queen anne's lace, dandelions, wild roses, horsetails. they all come together to display his love for you.

he walked back to the house with more pep in his step than usual. he cut the ends of the stems, trimmed any imperfections, and organized them in an appealing way. he wrapped a pink ribbon into a bow around the glass and snuck back into bed like nothing happened.

when you awake, you'll see his hard work and thoughtfulness laid out for you.
