ok so the first time i saw caleb!johnny was with josh!ponyboy who as we know is very emotional and dramatic. because of that and just like...height johnny definitely feels a little older than josh pony which i like because he is older yk? he's more mature but he definitely likes ponyboy a lot. there's this vibe of "yeah this is ridiculous but only i'm allowed to think pony's ridiculous because i'm saying it out of love" and it very much fits the qpr pbj agenda yayyy. I might be biased in that because hello it's me but also in that same show dally had the line delivery ever on the "you, me, ponyboy" going to the drive in line and johnny reacted so flustered that i simply can see it no other way sorry. josh is also the aroace pony ever and his and caleb's sunrise scene/ talking about cherry is one of my favorites i've seen

next is eli!ponyboy who is one of my favorites in general and i was very excited to see with caleb since i felt like their vibes would just match so well. boy was i correct. eli and caleb are also the exact same height which is so perfect. it fits so well because their pbj feels so equal - like very even in maturity and in emotions and a lot of things. when one of them gets upset or sad the other one is calm to help them but they both play both roles. this pbj also do not know the meaning of personal space and are constantly jostling each other around or holding onto each other ugh i love them. side note kind of but their singing voices blend together so so well. eli pony really feels like he took for granted that he and johnny would just be together forever. don't ask me how i know this ok. vibes.

so bonale!johnny is like the johnny that everyone else sees, if that makes sense.

since the story is from ponyboy's pov, he sees johnny as the vulnerable pet of the gang.

but if you saw him on the street, he's like any other tough greaser you would see, yk?

and that's how we see bonale!johnny most of the time, but in his vulnerable moments, we can really see how... scared he is. sometimes you can see that he's just a scared kid when his "tough" exterior cracks. he also cares a lot for ponyboy. but when does johnny not anyway?

and how could i forget about the limp??? my poor boy is limping throughout the whole show :C
