Vogel State Park — shot on assignment. I’ve been to one of Georgia’s oldest state parks before with family but I’ve never been there to explore everything it has to offer, which is a lot. I saw a black bear cub for the first time here on a solo hike. The cub didn’t see me and I didn’t see mama bear so I turned around booked it at a brisk walking pace back to the park. It’s was definitely a moment of panic but it was also fascinating. With over 100 campsites you better believe it gets busy here. Especially around the 4th of July. Catch it in the off season and you practically have the place to yourself. Beautiful hiking in surrounding areas, white water rafting nearby, and that clean mountain air. Take care of our land. As the dust has settled on recent backlash I have to give it up to these guys for the way they handled their business. They have been transparent, remorseful, and quite kind to all criticism. They have come a long way and changed so much since this photo was taken. Hands down still one of the best breweries in the state. While on assignment in three different state parks for @atlantamagazine, I was able to explore the exquisite beauty our extraordinary state has to offer. Here’s an outtake from @fortmcallister. In this same spot, 24 hours later, I spotted a few dolphins cruising by on their way back out to sea. I made coffee and apple cinnamon oatmeal after I set up the camera and watched the colors paint the sky. While protecting land is no longer a priority in this country, we can still play small individual roles in balancing that out. This little boy recently turned one. I wanted to take a moment to share one of my favorite pictures I took from his smash cake celebration. He is forming into a kind, sweet, hugging, emotional, and hilarious kid. Take him outside and he’s beyond content (Not sure where he gets that...).
