this is a nothing complaint but ppl who use clicker trainers annoy me. mostly because they don’t understand how it works. you can’t just click ur clicker at a puppy girl and expect her to melt. 1. she needs to be clicker trained already in order for the stimuli to mean anything 2. a click should only be rewarded at the precise moment the desired behavior is performed 3. the clicker is not the reward it is an association tool to better help understand training. you should follow with a low value food treat for best results.
i used to have a lot of fun tho at puppy girl bar night standing outside drunk occasionally clicking and watching dozens of girls legitimately freak out and try to figure out where the noise came from
real shit, i have resolved to just not talk abt some of my training efforts cause i dont want to have to bridge the gap of understanding between the clicker as "horny innocuous sound that i can activate to and display im a freak" and "sound that has a purpose and exists within controlled environments to build connections between behaviors and rewards"
right! i'm not trying to shit on people who hear clickers as horny sound and respond accordingly. but it is technically not dog training, and i wish more people understood how to use it appropriately. i think it would be so sexy if my training efforts with clickers were understood as means to elicit desired behavior as opposed to just like "funny horny button"
10000%, my issue with this began when an artist at a noise show used a clicker a lot in her set and everyone for who it is a quasi-hypno trigger was perking up and my pet was distressed and physically uncomfortable cause i wasnt asking anything of her so she couldnt reconcile why it was happening internally.
turns out the conclusion to this was introducing her to a trainer she fell in love with followed by her texting me an apology
