It All Started with a Kiss
It all started with a kiss on a hospital bed one night. A kiss that started a series of kisses and I love you's. It started with a night where they made love to each other on a couch, a night where they proclaimed to love one another no matter what happened. It started at a dance where they talked and whispered to one another in their ears, ignoring everyone around them and not caring what they thought.
It all started with continuous dates, spending the night at the others house and graduating high school. It all started with a night where they both proclaimed their love to one another or when they started college together, put up with one another through classes, through the stress and drama of the town. The once omega soon found a pack, feeling whole again, feeling like he belonged somewhere. It all started when graduation day came around and the next chapter of their lives would start. It all started when they would lay in bed together at night, whispers and talking with each other, talking about their future and where they wanted to go next.
It all started with a simple question spelled out in a candy on the playground mulch. Helen, will you marry me? The tears and joy and laughter that filled the air sealed their fate that night. Sealed the love that would never die between them. Months of planning and a whirl wind of stress was successful in the moment that he saw his beautiful bride walking down the aisle. Tears stained the face of the groom as he watched her come towards them where they would seal with their fate once again. Dancing, laughter, speeches, cake and champaign filled the air as they feasted, their best friends talking and dancing among one another.
It all started through a night of love, a night where they sealed their love with one another again only in a matter where no one else would see. It was a special bond between the two of them as they fit together like puzzle pieces. It was a night that started the rest of their lives forever.
Soon they learned there would be another family member in their lives. A small child was on their way into the world. It all started when they made a promise not to end up like their parents -- horrible or dead. It all started with a vow that no matter what species their child was, they would love them no what happened. They would teach them control and make sure they didn't have the life their father did.
Through a whirl wind of emotions, tears, happiness and nervousness as they tried to set up the room, it was all worth it the moment the cry broke through the air, the baby swaddled in a blanket and they both cried, admiring the life they had made. A name was whispered to the babe as they obsessed over their child.
It all started when the cries of the baby woke them up, tired parents nudging one another to take care of the child. only when the other would give in did one roll from their bed to take care of the crying child. The first few years of caring for the child were adventurous. Crying, blood, laughter, smiles, tears, photos, family adventures. It wasn't something they would trade for the world.
It all started when school years came alone. They cried in the car after they send their child to school. The young child was starting their next chapter, growing up faster than what they would like. Soon they would be out of the house, out of their lives and they would be alone in the life where it revolved around their child. None of them liked it but they knew that's how life was.
It all started when they learned they were going to have a second child. A little boy. The thought of having one girl and one boy excited them, their little family complete. Nine months of anxious waiting, decorating the room just right and their last child was here. Much like the first one, it all started when the child cried feeling the cold air for the first time, both crying at the second perfect child they created.
It all started as they aged, the child moving through the years of school, growing older, hitting hormones and their first heart breaks. They wanted to hurt the people who hurt their child but they knew they needed to stay out of it. No parent should watch their child like a hawk -- they would resent them for the rest of their lives.
It all started when their child graduated from high school, starting the next journey of their life without them. It was hard for both of them, watching their child move onto their next life without them. For once, living outside of their home, going to school, eating, making their bed and washing their clothes on their own. It hurt to watch them walk away and start a new adventure knowing that their child would never be living under their roof again.
It all started when they lived alone and grew old together. It all started when they would travel around the world, leaving the small town they stayed in knowing that there was more of the world. They walked along cobblestone trails, watching the people, trying the different cultures and learning the language as they explored every corner. It didn't take long before they settled back into their small home in the small town back to it being just the two of them.
It all ended up with a call. It all ended when they had to rush to the emergency room and hope that she received help before something drastic happened. It all ended with countless nights in the hospital as they hoped and prayed she would make it through the night. It didn't take long before they found themselves back in their homes only to return the next day.
It all ended with a flat line and a voice calling out her name, wanting her to wake up as his world came to a halting stop. It all ended when he watched the doctor pull a blanket over the head, as he sobbed, his brother holding onto him, cradling him to his chest as his world came to a sudden stop, no longer meaning what it once did.
It all ended up with the funeral as he knelt on the ground, the rain falling softly around him, matting his hair to his head. Fingers ran over the name on the tombstone.
Helen Leventis Greenberg. Sister. Wife. Best friend. Mother. Soul mate.
It all ended in an empty house. Pictures were turned backgrounds, her blanket was set to the side and her clothes were folded neatly in her dresser in order to keep the drawers from overflowing. Her books stayed unfinished on the stand, the adventures never finished. His heart ached for her, his eyes cried for her as he ran his fingers over the spot on the bed where she slept. No longer would the puzzle pieces fit together perfectly -- no longer would they complete one another.
It all ended when he died of heart break fourteen months, two weeks and five days later. It all ended where it began. It ended with them buried beside each other, resting peacefully with one another where they could be happy forever, laughing and smiling, whispering in the others ear, proclaiming their love for each other. For where it started, it ended and where it ended, it stated once again, allowing each other to stay together and their love to live on.
