I see some of y'all complaining about static and/or wanting nice smelling laundry. Go to a craft store, find 100% wool yarn balls. If it doesn’t come in a ball, ask an employee to make it into a tight ball for you. Wash in the washing machine to make it felted. Remove from washer, add a few drops of essential oil to the ball, allow to seep in. Dry with clothing. Doesn’t need to be rewashed ever, and if it stops smelling, add few more drops of essential oil. Bam, reusable dryer sheets.

Also, if you want to use dryer sheets, just rip those puppies up into smaller ones.  Work just as well and you don’t have to buy them as often. 

If your washer is high efficiency you actually only need like two teaspoons to a table spoon of the home made detergent. I make a batch that costs 8 dollars and lasts about two years. I will recommend using an all natural bar soap, if possible. The highly processed ones can leave oily residues. I use the fels-naptha, but that can be hard to find. Either way you can use your kitchen grater, or if you cut it up into smaller chunks you can put it through a blender. If you use a blender be sure to blend it with the washing soda, so it turns into powder instead of paste.
