YoichirĹ Hirase, a mollusk scientist, collected over 3500 seashells, 1000 of which were new discoveries. Hirase explains in the introduction on this book that he is not a designer or artist, but that he came up with the idea for this book while researching shells and cutting them at various angles. These âinside wondersâ created interesting patterns which he further explored with illustrator Jun Nishikawa.Â

The use of the word "queer" is not completely accurate to talk about the sexual preferences and gender identities of Mesoamerica. However, it is important to remember that a lot of what today we call "queer" was present in the societies of the past

The Voynich Manuscript
Many call the fifteenth-century codex, commonly known as the âVoynich Manuscript,â the worldâs most mysterious book. Written in an unknown script by an unknown author, the manuscript has no clearer purpose now than when it was rediscovered in 1912 by rare books dealer Wilfrid Voynich. The manuscript appears and disappears throughout history, from the library of the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II to a secret sale of books in 1903 by the Society of Jesus in Rome. The bookâs language has eluded decipherment, and its elaborate illustrations remain as baffling as they are beautiful. For the first time, this facsimile, complete with elaborate folding sections, allows readers to explore this enigma in all its stunning detail, from its one-of-a-kind âVoynicheseâ text to its illustrations of otherworldly plants, unfamiliar constellations, and naked women swimming though fantastical tubes and green baths.

"Today, victims [of lynching] are being honored and remembered through the Soil Collection Project.
The group travels to communities across the nation to collect soil from every lynching site in an effort to remember the victims.
The Soil Collection Project was in Sikeston, Missouri, to remember Cleo Wright, a cotton mill worker who was presumed guilty of a crime and lynched by a white mob.
A ceremony was held at the site where Wright died which is just a few blocks from the Lincoln building."
