I love doing jiu-jitsu. However I completely agree with this. At the prime age of 37 I am not in this to compete for points. I want to learn to defend myself or someone else when the time comes. That is what I enjoy most about #KobaRyu the style of Peter Rogers Sr. and Pete Rogers Jr. which encompasses a good deal of #bjj and stand up techniques that allow for #selfdefense rather than competition. All that being said, having the knowledge and learning all different styles is always a benefit. I look forward to learning a lot more on the journey with my UFC Gym Davie team as well as progressing further in with my Rogers Academy training! #themoreyouknow #knowingishalfthebattle (at UFC GYM)

Fresh out of the wash yesterday! Poor thing broke down on me while on 75N near Miramar, FL. Long story short it was extremely overheating due to a busted water pump and hose. Had the Eagle fixed the next day and it's back to South Florida cruising today! This was totally me at 4AM this morning 😞 I hate waking up with the sweats and shakes. I had lows at 4 and 630 this morning when I got up. Time to adjust overnight insulin to compensate for the #bjj #workouts. Wow what an amazing night of #bjj! We rolled for a full hour straight, switching partners every 15 minutes. What a #workout! So I am hanging out getting my Jeep fixed and and older gentleman comes in and we get to talking about our families, and what he used to do for work and all kinds of topics. He was just a fun guy to talk to and had a great sense of humor. I always enjoy listening and talking with older people. They have so much experience and often have unique perspectives on life. OK here is a little #tbt and #transformationtuesday albeit a bit late 😉 in the picture on the right I was nearly 250lbs and no I was not in the service at that time, I was in uniform for a wedding. It was embarrassing to see some of those pictures for me. Flash forward to today and I am at 190lbs, 10 more to go to hit my goal. Thanks in a large part to @petetheheatmma #kobaryu, #bjj @ufcgymdavie and the support of my friends and family I have been able to turn my life around, get my #type2diabetes under control. It is a lifestyle change people, not just diet and exercise for a while and stop, it's FOREVER.
