First of all…the visual effects should be more appreciated.

It was such a breathtaking movie and a great experience, but honestly, there is a part of me that is still unsatisfied, for some reason.

Before you judge, I have been living for this movie for years and I even counted days for it. You can also check my page.

In short, the movie didn't do justice to the book. That's it.

Not in the DIRECTING way.

The book was poorly adapted and there were a lot of missing moments and extra rushing in the movie, especially at the end.

I get that not everything from a book can be translated perfectly onto screen. I understand that. But the number of under-explained scenes?? And the absence of key moments??

Like, the most important one to my heart is when Grace saves Rocky from the Astrophage leak after they separated, it was SO brief??

It just felt weirdly fast. And yeah, it’s definitely because it’s a movie and it cannot be too long.I wish they made it a series instead of a movie. And honestly, people who didn’t read the book -and didn’t rate the movie a 10 - kind of have valid reasons.

Sci-fi as a genre needs a certain level of clear, smooth explanation.Because without it, things get confusing fast. And here… there was a noticeable lack of scientific explanation.

For me, as a book reader, I did enjoy the movie. I really did. But I expected more. Not visually, and again, NOT from the directing side, but from the adaptation.They focused heavily on emotion and cinematic drama, but kind of left the science behind.

And it almost feels like only book readers can truly understand what’s going on.I didn’t just assume that, I saw it too. I went with three of my friends, and I literally had to explain multiple scenes to them, either because they weren’t explained properly, or because they were explained in such a rushed way in the middle of everything. Or my friends were just a bit slow :')

But, If you ask me? It’s AMAZING.

I was expecting it to be on the same level as The Martian… but it turned out way better. It can even be compared to the directing of Interstellar.

And btw, I'm watching it again in theaters with another friend tomorrow!
