So here's the thing. If I'm reading a poorly written story on ao3 or fictionpress I am not paying for it, I have different standards for those works and the artistry behind them. However, when I'm paying for a physical book I expect it to be written with some degree of competence. This work is not what I call competent.

The main character is absolutely insufferable. This guy is so edgy and cartoonishly "dark". So far there is no flow to the narration and it's very stream of consciousness in the way a kid tells you his grand adventures. The beginning is moving pretty fast in action but incredibly slow in narration and I genuinely want someone to kill the guy already. And I haven't even finished the first chapter.

It's got a trigger warning page and a playlist page. I'm actually not used to these in books.

I don't really like Vic either and him making up lies about getting confirmation from the Clamp ladies themselves was hilarious but I think people forget that the show he was dubbing was also quite homophobic to the point of deliberately shoving an arc involving Fai dating Chi. The anime also leaned hard into ironing out Tomoyo's lesbianism to push her with Kurogane.
