Jay

“Chris.” Chase replied, smiling at him. “Though I try not to think about that at all.”

“Oh, sorry. I completely get that”.

Stanford smiled as he saw the leash finally being put on the dog’s collar, and it thankfully stopped him from getting drool and fur all over the designer’s pants. The only fur he could bare having on his clothing (not that he enjoyed it very much but at least he could tolerate it) was his cat’s. “You do not have to be so harsh on yourself either though. At least you have learned and now you know better.”

Blake gave Jack a treat before giving his attention back to the other guy, chuckling slightly. “I’ve always been told I put too much blame on myself” he admitted, “But still I really shouldn’t have left the door wide open”.

“Alright fine, I’ll call you Jay.” Chase nodded in understanding. “I was named after my dad, though just the letter of my first name thank god. His name was Chris, I got Chase. I think If I had my dads name I might just go legally get it changed.”

“Thank you” he chuckled, before nodding a long. “What’s your dads name?”

“Nice to meet you, JJ.” Nick said as he shook the younger’s hand. Resting his hands in his jean pockets, he looked down at the dog. “And what’s the little guy’s name?” He questioned, smiling at the dog as it looked up at him. Nick was such a dog lover. He was even considering adopting a dog from the shelter at some point during the summer. 

“Nice to meet you too” he smiled, before turning from the guy back down to Jack. “This little guy is Jack, I’ve had him for a few months he’s six years old and I adopted him from the shelter” he told the other, “And although he’s hard work I love him to bits”.

“Oh come on, I can call you Jay John right?” Chase smiled innocently, batting his eyelashes. “Please? I’m a good friend and I make good cookies. Hm, I think it’s rare if it’s been done before. It fits my brother though.”

“Absolutely not, even my ex boyfriend wasn’t allowed to call me Jay John” he laughed, before smiling. “Not even if you made the best cookies in the world, I allow Jay but I hate the sound of John, and it’s after my father so the least said about him the better”.

“Well I’m glad you think so. Some just don’t like politicians. Not that I can blame them too much.” He shrugged, smiling brightly at the other male. “Feel free to use me. Just tell me what you need and I’ll grab it.”

“If i’m honest, I don’t like most politicians but you seem like a nice one” he smiled, before nodding. “Can you grab me some of the red and orange peppers, organic please while I get the lettuce”.

“It’s not that awful. I quite like it.” Chase smiled, hoping to cheer the other up. “If it makes you laugh, my brothers name is Beckett but nobody calls him that. We all call him Kit, mostly because it’s less hassle. You’re not the only one with a really long name.”

“Fair enough” he chuckled, “But trust me anybody that calls me Jay John that isn’t my mother definitely doesn’t get to keep my friendship”. Before nodding, “Beckett. Interesting, never heard that one before”.

“I’m a total sucker for horrors.” Nick admitted. “I love anything horror, I watch horror movies all the time.. I’d prefer them to any sappy love story.” the writer laughed. Putting his notebook into his side bag, Nick stood up and extended his hand for the younger. “I”m Nick.” 

“We differ slightly there” he chuckled, “I’m a big lover of a sappy love story”. Blushing slightly, as he admitted his love for romance movies.  “Names JJ” he smiled, as he took the hand and gave a firm handshake.

“Well maybe he sensed that I needed a friend today?” Nick tried to justify why the dog took a liking to him. “Oh, actually I don’t like to share my work until it’s finished.. but because you’ve got a super cute dog that smells really bad, I suppose I’ll give you a small sample.” A small laugh escaping his mouth. “It’s actually a murder mystery.. It’s about a girl named Sarah who goes to an abandoned cottage and she befriends this boy named Luke and the two become close, but little do they know that there’s someone lurking in the forest who wants to kill them.”

“He is good at cheering people up” he gave out a light laugh, as he leaned down to stroke Jack. “Well I feel very honoured” he grinned, before listening to the guys description of his novel. “That sounds pretty interesting, although I have to admit horrors terrify me”.

With a nod, Nick grabbed his books and closed them, resting them on his lap as he watched the other put the dog on a leash. “Oh, don’t worry about it.. I love dogs, so not even their stink can ruin my day.” Nick smiled. Glancing down at his notebook when the stranger asked about what he was writing. “Oh this?” He pointed to his notebook. “I’m working on my novel.” He said proudly.

“That’s good” he chuckled slightly, “He seems to keep running towards people with a strong dislike for dogs much to my dismay”. Before nodding, “Oh that’s awesome. What’s it about, if you don’t mind me asking?”.

“That’s not sad, that’s a cool interest. Definitely comes in handy, as you can see.” Dalian chuckled, giving a small shrug of his shoulders. “Oh wow, that’s… really impressive. I only speak Spanish and English. English was hard enough to learn on it’s own.”

“Thanks” he chuckled, as he placed a firm grip onto his iced coffee. “To be fair English is really hard. There’s so many examples where words have different meanings like they’re, their and there” he nodded.

Dalian only smiled too, by now finding it useless and unnecessary to try and argue with the other. Instead he tugged his things away into his pockets, earbuds included. “That’s impressive. It’s definitely harder finding people who understand it here up north. Do you know any other languages or just those two?”

“It was kinda a hobby of mine growing up, shows how sad i was” he laughed, as he took another sip of his iced tea. “I can also speak french, german and a bit of Mandarin. How about you?”.

“No, no lo es, pero gracias.“ Dalian actually chuckled a little. Taking his wallet out of his pocket, he pulled out a ten dollar bill an ordered the iced tea for JJ. “So you speak Spanish?” 

“Está bien” JJ gave a warm smile towards the other, as he waited for his drink and then took a long sip. “Lovely” he grinned, before nodding “Yeah Spanish was the first language I learned that wasn’t my native tongue”.

“Oh, I’m Chase.” he offered up, holding out his hand for the other to shake. “You?”

JJ shook his hand, before smiling “Technically I’m called Jay-John which is an awful name so I go by JJ”.

“Like last time I checked i do have feelings and while I don’t enjoy being in charge I do enjoy being treated well. It’s this weird thing where sometimes doms can’t separate sex from life.” 

“Exactly, I’m glad we’re on the same page. Did I ever catch your name?”.
