fallout 4 is already good by the way. always has been
I find it funny how fusion cores in Fallout 4 can power whole buildings for 200+ years only last a few in-game hours in power armor. I’m sure they were only looking at it as a gameplay mechanic but Bethesda accidentally made a really good point in how wasteful military campaigns can be. Instead of giving the people of the Commonwealth power, the Brotherhood just sucks them dry of resources while appointing themselves as the wasteland’s police.
I am fed up with the US healthcare system. Why do we have non-medical people (insurance agencies) in charge of what medicines are even available to people? Also, why is an insurance company allowed to change (eliminate) coverage for a medicine in the middle of a plan year? Suddenly, my insurance won't cover a medicine that is effective, and that they have paid for (in part, it's always "in part" in the US) for seven months?
And, they want me to substitute a "similar" medicine that literally has half of the active ingredients of the effective one? 50% of something is not enough to just make a swap. What if my body uses the 50% that is MISSING from the other medicine which is what makes it work?
And, despite them limiting my coverage, they continue to charge the same premium (monthly payments)? Where is my discount for the limitation of services?
Finally, how is this legal? I get one chance each year to pick health insurance, and part of that is looking at the covered medicines, and since I can't shop for another plan mid-year, how on earth is it appropriate for them to randomly edit our contract and leave me trapped without coverage?
#recognizing that being able to choose healthcare coverage at all is a privilege #but why is there one set of rules for corporations and another one for actual people #notfallout

Hey guys- we all agree that women should be able to vote right?
Right?
RIGHT?
My younger brother was going on about how he was a big stupid idiot so went “the fuck did you say about my brother you son of a bitch?” and the confused fear stopped the self-deprecation in its tracks so in conclusion I will now be intimidating my loved ones into self-love for the foreseeable future
^^^^ I have friends and family that used to go to USAmerica frequently, including myself. We have all stopped any visitation or interaction because it feels like if one were to casually pop over to Germany for funsies in August 1939.
If you haven’t heard it from an outsider yet, we’re all freaked out. USAmerica is scary right now. I’ve heard current times there “jokingly-seriously” referred to as a “fascism phase”.
Nothing happening in your country is normal and everyone is terrified.
what's that one thing where they asked how ripely from alien was so realistic and believable as a female character in scifi for once and they were like "well we just took the dude from the original script and made him a girl and changed nothing else. it works bc men and women are the same?" and people were like "woah no way" and then didn't learn anything from that for 20 years
"how do you write such believable men as a woman?" "how do you write such believable women a man?" and the answer people who are good at it always give is "i just write people. were literally the exactly the same. do you think the opposite sex is some sorta totally different animal???" and people respond "woah that's wild. yea i do. and im not gonna stop thinking that goodbye :)"
I wish there were a way to differentiate "tired because I'm understimulated and will get energized and have fun if I go out" and "tired because I'm really just tired and I'll be boring and grumpy if I go out"

I straight up do not understand the labubu thing. I thought the stanley cup thing was confusing enough but this really is fucking with my head. Poll, because I'm lost.
Labubu:
I do not know what a 'labubu' is
I have no desire to own any labubus
I have moderate desire to own at least one labubu
I very badly want to own at least one labubu
I own one labubu and don't want more
I own multiple labubus and don't want more
I own one labubu and want more
I own multiple labubus and want more
I don't want to buy labubus but keep buying labubus
a 'no buy' youtuber i follow made a video about why she thinks it makes sense that she bought six labubus and a podcaster i like was talking about how he doesn't understand how they crept into his brain or why he started buying them.
not to put advertisements on ur dash (sorry) but I also dunno why people get confused or judgemental about fads like what is there to not get?
it’s a doll. it’s a water bottle. currently a popular object for purchase. what feeds the desire to buy it is the social animal wanting to join in on a thing that others are doing. the company selling them is making a bunch of money right now but the trend will fade after a while
I'm also feeling nuts here because people keep saying things like "what feeds the desire to buy it is the social animal wanting to join in on a thing that others are doing" and I while I do understand ingroup signalling I do not understand why buying things signals that you are part of the ingroup (or, I get why it signals that you are part of the ingroup but I don't understand why that would translate to *feeling* like you are part of the ingroup when your participation with the ingroup has been literally purely transactional).
It very much does NOT feel self explanatory to me and never has, not with Stanley cups not with Uggs not with Juicy Couture velour sets.
I feel like an alien here. It feels like intergalactic anthropologists are standing in a corner of my brain making notes but no connections.
I feel like if I were to buy a labubu it would give me the same sensation as realizing I don't know if I'm doing normal things with my hands in the middle of a conversation (which is the same general vibe I've gotten from previous popular brand explosions: "if I wear Uggs it will necessarily make me into the kind of person who wears Uggs but I suspect that the kind of people who wear Uggs will not see me as someone who belongs in their group").
I guess what I'm asking is "do people actually feel a sense of participation or belonging from participating in these kinds of trends?" I am 100% genuinely asking this because whenever I see something blowing up like this I don't get a sense that this is something I could participate in and feel like I was joining in, there's just a vague unease going "why is there a 'right' kind of velour tracksuit and how does everyone know which one is the right or wrong one?"
#idk I don't get it either #could it be fomo and you buy one so you don't miss out?
Arrival.
This is too real.
My first sips of coffee after a week of being too sick to drink/eat much of anything ...
Just.
How was I existing this past week?
Unpopular opinion but if you don't enjoy the process you should find a different thing to do.
And I think this is true in general but now I'm talking about it in the context of AI.
If you don't enjoy making art and only care about the end piece and how it'll look and how much traction it"lol get online then making art is not something for you, find something you enjoy from start to finish.
Same goes for writing: if you do not enjoy writing and rewriting and then some more and instead want AI to write for you, being a writer is not something you should pursue.
Sure, not every part of creative process is going to be equally enjoyable but you should get satisfaction from solving the problems along the way and you should get a sense of accomplishment on your way of "making the piece yours" and you should have a sense of ownership once you are done.
None of these things will come from typing in a prompt into chatGPT. And I am sad to see so many people are missing on the opportunity to experience the joy of making something with their own hands and brains.

Okay but I went and found the clip and NOTHING could prepare your for this man’s delivery.
I like how the video had me thinking: okay someone edited the screencaps into saying their own joke - because there’s small words behind the yellow ones! - only to be proven wrong. Just wait for it :)
I was not prepared for the full experience, even with the warning.
One of the disappointing things about fallout 4 to me is that Nuka World exists as it does.
Compare it to Far Harbor one of the best DLC’s of the franchise. And then all you get to choose is side with the raiders or kill them all and if you kill them all that’s it. DLC over.
So if you want to be a good person the DLC is basically pointless.
On the other hand far Harbor has 3 separate sides you can pick. And could honestly be a game on its own.
Basically every other DLC outside of fallout 3 lets you do more than kill everyone and that’s the good ending.
I just wish the slaves and traders in Nuka world were just fleshed out way more. It would have made the DLC useful to anyone who doesn’t want to roleplay as a dick.
