 don’t know what this is….it’s something that i thought of after @sayjjanhae​ made this gifset and shortcircuited my brain. it might not be exactly how i want it to turn out. i’m honestly not sure, since it’s difficult to concentrate right now. i’m not sure if it’s just not as good as my usual stuff or if it’s just me imagining things. either way, i hope you guys like it. i love you all so so much, you could never know how much

           Your stomach clenches uncomfortably as the priests start to close the shackles around your ankles; their song of offering never ceases while they work and you don’t have the courage to interrupt despite the way your heartbeat’s thrumming in your ears. You should tell them they’ve made a mistake, you know you should, but fear is locking your voice in your throat and it’s all you can do not to shake as the priests continue their chant. They move towards your wrists now, the song picking up speed, and one manacle closes around your wrist. It’s been past the point of no return for a while but something about the sound of iron clanking shut and the feeling of metal digging into your wrist makes it so much more real.

           When the priests left, you’d never see another human again.

           Even worse, you didn’t even get a chance to tell them you’re not a proper sacrifice. They had believed your mother when she had looked them in the eye and told them you hadn’t ever slept with a man because it was true; you hadn’t. Not to say that there weren’t a number of handsome men in the village, but who had really caught your eye was the girl at the cloth trader’s shop – tall and strong with skin as dark as the obsidian lining the walls of the temple and a smile that made every head turn. Your mother had always suspected, but the city’s priests didn’t seem to acknowledge that relationships outside that of a man and a woman could even exist so when they asked, she had answered truthfully.

           The chanting dies somewhere during your thoughts of your mother and failure and the heat of pleasure and you don’t realize the head priest is watching you for a moment or two too long.

           “The ritual is complete,” he informs you, voice cutting through the reverent air of the temple. “And the sun is almost set. After night has fallen, the most gracious Sun God will appear before you and decide if you are a worthy enough sacrifice. Pray he does not deem you unworthy in any way – you will bring not only your own destruction, but that of us all.”
