AZUT '22 - Sunrise at the Spiral Jetty, Great Salt Lake, UT - Artist Robert Smithson leased 10 acres of land in the spring of 1970. Using over six thousand tons of black basalt rocks and earth from the site, Smithson formed a coil 1,500 feet long and 15 feet wide that winds counterclockwise off the shore into the water. The work has been intermittently visible since it's completion in 1970 due to rising water levels in the lake and was totally submerged from roughly 1972 to 2002. Since then, prolonged drought has kept the artwork revealed. (at Rozel Point) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmt3Se5rfhL/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
