top five fics i've written:
this night (4,637 words, oneshot, complete) what it's about: it's a modern, still-magic-but-not-quite-the-same-magic AU retelling of sirius's infamous werewolf prank. the whole thing transpires in just one night, told from different perspectives and happening in different parts of the same city. why i love it: it's got everything i love writing (and reading tbh) about! angst, magical realism, modern au, pre-dating jily, blackevans, marauders dynamic, black brothers dynamic, found family (although currently on the rocks), and small glimpses of the different kinds of friendship that make up that found family (james and lily, james and sirius, remus and sirius, sirius and lily, remus and lily, james and remus, even peter). i liked the way the story came to me, too. like, not quite linear, but in this sort of shifting perspectives/styles kind of narration? i do sometimes reread it and think i could have done better piecing it together, but i'm also pretty proud of the way it is!
completely human (5,161 words, oneshot, complete) what it's about: a modern magic superhero AU! why i love it: same reasons as for this night, but this one's happier, with a conventional start-to-finish plot. like, if this night is a CW episode of a teen show, this one's a disney movie?
the one with the storm and all the texting (5,668 words, oneshot, complete) what it's about: modern/coffee shop/university AU. sirius owns a coffee shop. james is a barista in it. lily frequents it. there is a big storm, and lily gets stranded with james in it. james freaks out in the group chat. (also worth noting: sirius is also very hot in this fic. like, think leather jacket, mystery novel, and motorbike lol.) why i love it: it was very fun to write! i made myself laugh while writing it. which is rare.
maybe it was egos swinging (maybe it was her) (11,196 words, 2 parts, complete) what it's about: hogwarts jily academic rivals AU! i wrote this one for @florenceafternoon, to whom i owe the prompt and the years this fic added to my life span. why i love it: it was one of the easiest ones to write. fics like this one (the length, the plot, the style) usually take forever, but this one practically wrote itself? like, there were things i didn't plan that just came to me as i was writing them, and it just. all flowed and tied up nicely in the end, i think. this one's recent though, so i might change my mind about it, but so far i love it :)
seven things (19,017 words, 7 chapters, complete) what it's about: modern muggle AU. they all attend a performing arts school. they're all in a play (sort of). lily sings. and acts. the marauders are also in a band. why i love it: NOSTALGIA. lol. like, listen, this is really old, so the writing is... not the best, so please proceed with caution if you do check it out. but i love it because it's based on actual happy memories (aka my school life) and i had a lot of fun writing it! it's fluffy to a fault (like seriously someone's legit told me it's too sweet for them, so caution and all that), and perhaps corny also. but it'll always and forever be a happy corner in my house of jilys! :)
