Our current assignment began with an observation of our environment during our commute to/from the university. I chose to document the textures on my way to/from therapy sessions.
That got me thinkingβ¦ A lot of my texture photographs document decay, but therapy is about healingβ¦ So why not try to βfixβ some of the decay?
At first, Iβd planned to use the same colour, but then I began to think about how surviving awful things can make us better peopleβ¦ Which made me think about kintsugi, and how there is no shame in survivalβ¦ In fact, it is beautiful.
As Iβm still in the process of healing, and will likely be so for the rest of my life, only a small part of the first painting in this series has been fixed, and only with copper. As the series progresses, the metals will change, and more will be healed.
