Ballet Mime
I stumbled upon this ballet mime guide the other day. Itās really neat. When I first started watching ballet, I really struggled to understand anything the dancers wereĀ āsayingā. This wouldāve been helpful back then.
Reblogging an old personal favourite because it is one of my most popular posts ever.
Bump tutorial by Bunsiebox
Iāve seen some people draw the alternative way, and it still looks fine to me. Yes itās more anatomically correct, but cāmon, let artists draw how they want.

Tutorials byĀ Krenz Cushart
Iāve been really nervous about posting this because of possible backlash. Then I realized that the people who would give me shit for thinking a character is trans are terrible anyway, so here it is: Transition Through the Centuries! I have like a book worth of stories for Liamās backstory, which includes pirates, a greaser gang, and a romance that never came to be. All the while, Liam discovered who he really is and continues to discover more things about himself. Happy Pride Month!

dear lord, I cry every time I see your blog ;_; (LOVE the Supernatural art >.<) But can you make a tutorial on how to draw the outline of the face correctly? I mean, I get the features right, and can get them looking in different directions (up, down, right/left, etc.) BUT IT'S THE FRIGGIN FACE OUTLINE THAT THROWS ME OFF, you know, the curve of the cheek (ESPECIALLY connecting the corner of the lips to the forehead), chin, neck and all that stuff. Pleeeeese help!!
Thanks very much!! Iām not entirely sure what youāre asking but I hope this helps ;;
So our faces are shaped the way they are because itās skin and muscle draped over an underlying structure aka our skull. Spooky!
This looks eerily similar to the typical ball/crosshair/etc face frame⦠because it is lol. If youāre having trouble with the cheek you can mark in the area where the cheekbones are as a reference point when setting up your face.
If you donāt want all your people to look like Benedict Cumberbatch all you have to do is draw a curve from the edge of the cheekbone down to the chin.
UMM for necks I think the basic thing you should know is that there are 2 strips of muscle that come out from behind the ear and wrap around to attach to your sternum. Usually people simplify it to 2 lines on the neck like in your favorite animu but now you know what it really means!
Please let me know if this was completely off the mark from what you were asking lol ;;; BUT UM YES

Could you please maybe do a tutorial on eyes?
Letās take a look on eyes!
1. My first tip on drawing eyes is to stop focusing on the fact that itās an eye. People are often intimidated by eyes, the windows to the soul, blah blah, itās still a bunch of lines and blobs of color, and the sooner you stop being afraid of them the better.
2. That being said, an eye is more or less almond shaped from the front, and kind of taaingle shaped from the side. What alters itās general shape is the upper eyelid. Playing with the shape of the eyelid gives your character a distinct look and allows you to show their emotions, which combined with the position of the eyebrows gives you a wide range of expressions. To me thatās more important than drawing a super realistic iris with tiny specks of color dancing in the shimmering pools of his blue eyes, you get what I mean ;)
3. An eye is a three-dimnesional structure. Itās a ball sitting in an eye socket, and you have to keep that ball in mind. Also worth remembering that the ball is wet and shiny. That glossy reflection is what gives your drawing a realistic vibe.
4. Eyeids and eyelashes throw shadows over the eyeball. This is important.Ā
5. Never use pure white for the eyeball. White is reserved only for the shiny spot. Trust me.Ā
6. Asian eyes look different than Caucasian eyes because of a skin fold partially hiding the upper eyelid and the inner eye corner. Pay attention to that detail when drawing your Asian characters.Ā
7. Pro tip: watch make up tutorials and pay attention to the advice on where to put highlights and where to apply darker eyeshadows to achieve the desired effect. Same with shapes of eyeliners and eyebrows. Then apply that knowledge to your drawings.Ā
Good luck! :D
this is more of a demonstration than a real tutorial because iām bad at explaining things exactly as i do it? these are all really quick and cartoony sketches but hopefully they get the point across!
but basically, the expression of body types depends a lot on the skeletonās proportions how muscle and fat etc are distributed,Ā
as well as height; a taller person and a shorter person of the same weight will have different proportions and expressed body types (the shorter person will look fatter and the taller person will look thinner, because of how the weight is distributed on the body)
@dredsinaā did a really good tutorial on bodies as well which you should check out
and when in doubt, looking up references can never hurt! comparing sketches of anatomy diagrams really helps too, and it takes a lot of practice and playing around to really get the hang of it.
hope this helped!
