I think I enjoy music more from a sensory standpoint, because I guarantee you I won’t be able to tell you any theory behind what I might be hearing, or maybe the history, or the tea behind any lyrics, but I sure as hell will be able to tell you if I’m enjoying it, whether you’ll believe me or not. 🫡 July 15, 2026 at 12:34AM via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Dazh94iqqXB/
Still recovering and trying to regain mobility after the marathon, I joined fellow viola section buddy and their hubby on their mission to get a World Cup edition Boop and ended up also securing one for myself as well as stickers and a limited edition ORCA card. Also learned a new board game, added a book to the reading list, spotted an album (one of my faves) in a record store, spotted a section of seat track on the ferry (can never escape these, I swear), enjoyed the skyline on the return crossing, took in some of the World Cup buzz downtown, MINE?, watched the Senegal national team arrive from afar, and sent post cards I never got to make and send from marathon weekend. I can walk now, which is nice. 🚶 July 9, 2026 at 11:32PM via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/Damjh9eFS0b/

Waiting for fireworks, counting GA planes circling the lake… 🌸 July 5, 2026 at 12:27AM via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DaZxe1NKbQt/
I don’t say much when i’m flying, I’ve realised. Flying has always been some kind of practise in observation, whether it be seeing other traffic to avoid when I’m the one at the controls, or trying to see if there’s other airline traffic out the window and imagining the stories on board. This trip, I learned that even with friends, I’ve found the ritual of flying from place to place to be a time when I get quiet and think. And the whole trip back, I couldn’t help but think how amazing it is to see the world from these heights, and how lucky and grateful I was to have the friends in the same row. Funny how our paths may have unknowingly crossed many times long ago, but eventually did. 🙏 July 4, 2026 at 08:23PM via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DaZV-e7lKZx/

But failure brings you freedom
Seattle, WA 22 June 2026 :: iPhone 17 Pro Max :: f/2.2 1/9s :: ISO-1250
Dear Stranger;
I don't know how to express it, but I know I can't thank the city, the organisers, the spectators, fellow marathoners, and most importantly, my dearest friends enough for the experience that was this past weekend. After starting the 50th running of Grandma's Marathon full of hope and enthusiasm, my race imploded and it became a matter of surviving 20 miles and a long journey of managing legs on the verge of cramping, and accepting all that goes with that.
Before parting ways with my running buddy, we enjoyed the energy and encouragement of the volunteers working the water and aid stations, the residents along the route far, far from the finish, that cheered us on (there was a bluegrass band that serenaded us?!), and I think my inexperience go the best of me, because I was clearly pushing harder and faster but unconsciously. It was hard to slow back down, and in no time, my body let me know all resources were spent.
After parting ways with my running buddy to let her chase her own proper finish, some of the things I had to accept was crossing the finish line likely after all the celebratory structures were taken down, which was actually the easy part, because perhaps the most challenging thing was to allow myself to accept help. It started with a water bottle from a St. Louis County Sheriff as they were sweeping the course ahead. Then it came from Jerry, offering a spray of Biofreeze to help with the cramping, to exchanging words of encouragement with a bunch of fellow marathoners, to a woman working at a water station that had just shut down by the time I arrived (whom I forgot her name) that offered me a drink from her own Nalgene bottle, to Suzie, who offered not just one, but two bottles of water, and the woman that passed me and offered her own bottle of water as well.
It wasn't until the last few miles (strangers were still encouraging me after asking if I was already celebrating or if I was still making my way) and a bunch of determined text messages that my dear friends intercepted me and walked the final miles to cross the finish line. I can't thank them enough for all of the encouragement, all the support, and the thoughtfulness to ask the folks actively taking down the finish line structures if I could walk across the finish line and even those folks cheered.
When I had already accepted the possibility of not receiving a ribbon or shirt, they had already thought ahead about that as well. Well after the race, sore and stiffer than I've ever felt, these same friends helped me get home.
I've learned so much from this attempt, this trip, not just about running, but what it's like to deal ("deal") with the most amazing and supportive friends. I have a lot to carry forward, but I do so happily. I like to think that failure really does seem to bring you freedom.
I can't thank everyone enough.
Magically, -j
I like the way I can't keep my focus

Dear Stranger;
Actually, I don't like the way I can't keep my focus because I have to pack and I leave on Tuesday. I'll have no time to run, because I also have to clean the apartment for the inspections.
When it rains, it always pours, I swear.
All good though, as I'm ready to do my best, no matter what level of preparation. We’ll soon see how that turns out, but maybe a survival showing will inspire me to do better and try again? I’m looking forward to it.

We knew it, we knew you

Dear Stranger;
I was looking up one day and couldn't help but think about the Taylor Swfit / Toy Story collaboration and how we Swifties were able to sniff this out way back at the end of April with that myserious glitch of a countdown. I tell you, this community is so much fun and I feel so dumb for having hated on them at all, and maybe it's only fitting that the album that turned me into a Swiftie opened with a track called "State of Grace."
I think about that a lot, too. I'm so grateful for Swifties.

I think it’s time to find a new ensemble. June 1, 2026 at 06:42PM via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DZEL1qNKBUR/
It’s a *Toy* Story 🤠
You knew it! My new original song “I Knew It, I Knew You” for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 will be yours on June 5th. I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story movie. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?
You can pre-order now exclusively on my site and catch Toy Story 5 in theaters June 19th ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
One year of owning the best things that have ever been hers. Show us how you are celebrating today 💚💛💜♥️🩵🖤
A 747 poking through between buildings is about as crazy as work lately. My Space Needle season pass expires on Sunday and so do my SAM and Chihuly Garden & Glass benefits, but Saturday is a concert day followed by a Blue Man Group show so I guess I can rest when I’m dead? I’m so unprepared for Grandma’s… 🛌 May 29, 2026 at 12:50AM via Instagram https://instagr.am/p/DY6jFlRFUyb/

Don't know what's down this road, I'm just walking
Seattle, WA 17 May 2026 :: iPhone 17 Pro Max :: f/2.2 1/554s :: ISO-40
Dear Stranger;
I'm looking forward to days working on content for the orchestra in the sun (in the public library), and maybe in the sun, properly outdoors. I'm looking forward to taking more time to run, read, and draw as well, and I'm also looking forward to more opportunities to ride the ferry, the Sounder train, or maybe Amtrak to Portland or Vancouver, to take more pictures (both normal and astro) and to make more videos.
As the orchestra season winds down, I'm looking forward to learning more. I'm looking forward to having fun with my hobbies—I have so many interests, and I know many algorithms will reward those that specialise in one, but I think I'm learning that, for the time being, I can't be governed by an algorithm yet.
I'm looking forward to more time to do the things I love.
That's the hope.
What are you looking forward to this summer?
Magically, -j
Help, I'm still at the restaurant
Seattle, WA 22 May 2026 :: iPhone 17 Pro Max :: f/2.2 1/4s :: ISO-2500
Dear Stranger;
On Friday I found myself stargazing atop the Space Needle (yay Season Pass!), making note that Venus, Jupiter, and the Moon were aligned, and Alaska Airlines flight 1369, heading to San Diego, was moving into position to join the alignment.
The sun had set about an hour ago, and the sky was still in that deep blue stage (even if it was past 10 PM) and I couldn't help but remember this colour of sky past midnight in Stockholm. That's right, two years ago at around this time I was making my way home from Stockholm, having experienced something that even I had trouble believing, and I couldn't help but think anyone I'd tell when I get home would believe me either. Nevertheless, I left with a taste of that Swiftie kindness that everyone talked about and that's stuck with me ever since, and I think about it frequently.
I'm also really enjoying each time my phone or my wallpapers at work cycle through pics from the Stockholm trip because the nice part about having a decent memory is that it's possible to relive these memories all over again—the anticipation, the excitement, the magnitude of joy.
I had the time of my life on that trip, and I hope I can experience it again sometime. More so, I hope you can experience something like that, however that may look for you, in your lifetime, too.
But for now, I'm pretty sure I did leave my heart in Stockholm.
Magically, -j
