What would you do if you were a queer Black teen girl in the 2010s midwest that suddenly became a witch after reading from an ancient tome?
Now you've got to fight monsters , face off against an evil that's after you ... and also two vampires have feelings for you ( and they dig each other a bit too) . Check out this Black Queer YA Coming of age Magical Girl Witch in the midwest story!
The Three Tomes. Live on Kickstarter
Card Captor Sakura and Sailor Moon x Twilight and The Vampire Diaries ( minus the racism).
Too often in media, Black women and femmes are seen as disposable. They're stepping stones on the path to the " true relationship". They're the side best friend, they're killed off for the narrative..
Too often in media Black people period are questioned for why they're in fantasy, or supernatural stories. " Why is a mermaid Black?" " Why is that dwarf Black?" " Why is that knight Black?"
There's rampant biphobia and questioning of people's queer idenity as nonbinary or fear of being open about your Black queerness period...
Too often in media our stories as Black people are only accepted if it centers our pain. Very rarely are we given opportunity in mainstream media to have our whimsical and fun coming of age stories without black trauma at it's core. Our history is part of us, but we can have our " Juno's " , our " Twilights" , our " Hunger Games" ...etc.. too. We are able to be and should be present in all genres and tell all kinds of stories.
The Three Tomes aims to dismantle all of this. It's a Queer YA coming of age story about Tammy Harris, age 17. She lives in the Chicago Suburbs and is having her own adventure and dealing with grief and change through the magical lens of witches and vampires. The story centers on her, and a host of queer black and brown characters taking the lead. A Lesbian Witch, A gay Vampire priest, a gay Vampire villian, two bi, and pan vampire boys ( tammy's love interests) and Tammy's best friend who is nonbinary and black/indian mixed.

A queer YA coming-of-age story about a black teen witch girl in the 2010s, fighting monsters and falling in love with vampires.
The world is witnessing a genocide in Gaza. In addition to the extreme loss of life, restrictions on humanitarian access and forced displace
I don't know if this article is perfect since it's too long for me to fully parse right now but exactly as OP says it describes the way the "usa" backed "israel" is destroying the environment in Gaza.
Another article that goes over how the "us" military is one of the biggest polluters in the world, ranking above many entire countries:
US military pollution is a significant contributor to climate change. If it were a nation, it would be the 47th largest emitter in the world
Remember when I presented my take on Pi’illo Island? As I was playing Brothership for the first time last year, I came up with a bunch of ideas for my take on Concordia and posted them all one by one. So now, I’m going to compile them all here!
- Concordians have a saying: “In a way, you are your own lighthouse. No matter where you are, your heart will always guide you to home.”
- Concordians have rubbery skin that’s pretty hard, and the back side of their head is thicker than the other parts of their bodies. Their bones are made of aluminum fiber. Their blood has electrical conductivity, and so does their spit.
- An illness that Concordians can contract is called Circuit Fever. Your body reaches higher temperatures than it can handle, like an electricity overload. You also get really bad headaches and body aches, and it becomes very easy to get dizzy or nauseous. It’s not that serious because, like a cold or the flu, it’s easily treatable and goes away in about a week or two.
- A more serious illness they can come down with is called Blown Fuse. You cough up smoke, black blotches appear on your body and face, your insides feel like they’re burning and melting, and you feel excessively tired, like the power went out inside your body. The older Concordians get, the more susceptible they are to getting sick with Blown Fuse. It can take as long as several months to recover from it. Also, people can die from it.
- Being afflicted by Glohm inflames a person with a want to reject all of their support systems because, "Oh, they're just holding me back from pursuing my REAL dream!" It gives them a drive to go against their way of life and chase hyper-individualistic goals.
- Concordians can drown, and when they do, it looks like their bodies are short-circuiting in the water.
- Before Mario and Luigi showed up, Concordia’s lands had been broken apart for a year. Also, a new Uni-tree takes a relatively shorter time to grow (only a few months in comparison to most trees, which take years), but it can go on living until someone or a lack of bonds destroys it.
- Shipshape Island used to be an outlying island that seemed to float. It floated in a way that no other landmass in Concordia did. Like Connie said, when the land split, Shipshape was the island that she was blasted to.
- Rumbla Island has a tradition of holding island-wide art shows, where everybody comes together to view and critique each other’s pieces. There are no judges; the winner is decided by the vote of the people.
- Since the Twisten Sprout is powered by song and dance, the inhabitants of Twistee often come together for fun parties to keep it alive. This makes Twistee one of the liveliest places in Concordia.
- The people of Raynforst live on the higher ground of the land because the heavier rainfalls there will cause the water levels to rise.
- Florall Island has an outdoor trampoline park where people can bounce on their springy flowers and climb an obstacle course built along some trees. It was suddenly closed after Concordia broke apart, but Mario & Luigi linking the islands back together allowed it to reopen.
- Gobblicks have always lived around the Great Lighthouse of Lushgreen Sea. Before the split, there were mostly just there to ward off intruders.
- In Concordia, the lands trade their goods and services with one another. Desolatt Island is a bustling hub of trade, and a frequent trading partner of theirs is Allsand Island.
- There’s an amusement park on Merrygo Island, and it’s adjacent to the maze. The park’s rides and attractions were also engineered by Technikki. But, the lines at the park aren’t that long since most people are lost in the maze.
- In Lottacoins, there’s a school called Lottafacts University. This is, by far, the most prestigious institution in Concordia. It is both Technikki and Adaphne’s alma mater.
- Allsand is one of the least populated areas in Concordia. However, it is still a major trade hub, much like Desolatt, which is its major trading partner. Those who visit just need to take caution when traversing the sand lakes. They do it with rafts coated with Boneshark repellent.
- After the events of the game, the Glohm factory on the Color-Full Sea’s Great Lighthouse Island was demolished. The people salvaged some pieces from the rubble and used them to establish some new security measures, which would better ensure the Great Lighthouses’ safety.
- Since Bulbfish Island is always dark, its inhabitants have very, VERY sensitive eyes. When they visit other islands, they have to put on shades or a visor so the light doesn't hurt them.
- Freezin Village is a territory of Slippenglide. Likewise, Boilin Village is a territory of Skorcheen. Freezin Village’s inhabitants were often told that if they got too close to a Boilin Village resident, they would melt into a puddle. Inhabitants of Boilin were told that if they got too close to someone from Freezin, their flame would die out from the cold. These beliefs were, of course, debunked when everyone saw Burnadette and Chilliam together.
- Slippenglide’s residents wear shoes with spikes on the bottoms every day. The paths they travel along usually freeze over. Slippenglide is also Concordia’s main exporter of ice and sugar.
- The residence of Skorcheen wear all-terrain shoes so they can easily navigate the caves and cliffs. Also, Skorcheen is Concordia’s main exporter of spices, seasoning, and fiery coal.
- Much of the Great Lighthouse of the Brrrning Sea tends to freeze easily, so the magma chamber on the second sublevel is there to prevent it from completely freezing over, lest the lighthouse’s power grow weaker. Every so often, a Wattanist or somebody goes over to check on the lighthouse, and they’ll goad the magma into bursting if it’s needed.
- Offandon is the least populated land in all of Concordia, but it wasn’t always that way. It plays host to the ruins of an ancient city, in which the Moarzz people lived. Their writing system looks like Morse code transcribed.
- Before Bowser and his minions set up a castle there, nobody ever lived on Wayaway Island, and it was a deserted island even before Concordia split apart. But while people didn't technically live there, they sailed to Wayaway Island and stayed there for their job of harvesting Ampberries and other resources. This job is usually taken up by single people with no kids, due to the immense amount of distress it historically brought people's families, with their loved ones being away from them.
- The Great Lighthouse of the Gulchrock Sea is the oldest of Concordia’s four Great Lighthouses. That’s why it’s smaller than the others. It set the standard for how the other three, as well as the smaller lighthouses on the islands, were built.
- People visit Conductor Island all the time, but no one actually lives there because they treat it as a sacred spot for the Great Conductor.
- There’s an annual talent competition in Concordia called ConnecTalent, where contestants from every land showcase talents of all kinds. The contest’s rounds are held in Twistee, then Lottacoins, and then Bulbfish. Then come the finals, which are held in Jellyfish Island. As with all contests in Concordia, there aren’t any judges at all. The people vote to decide who wins.
- Jellyfish Island got its name because the big rock, which got hollowed out to create the hall, was in the shape of a jellyfish even then. There's also a resort hotel there, which is directly behind the hall.
- There’s another island in the Color-Full Sea (or maybe even the Stormstar Sea) called I-Witness Island, which is the source of all Concordia’s news. Depending on where they live, Concordians can have wires, leaves, a fire, or a spike of ice on top their heads. The denizens of I-Witness Island have TV antennas and cables on top their heads.
Wattanists
- Wattanists come from all areas of Concordia. They are denoted by the special plug-shaped hats they wear.
- If you're a Wattanist, you have the most highly revered profession in all of Concordia. The way a person becomes a Wattanist is by being chosen by another Wattanist for the job. The thing is, though, it's hard to become one. You will need to keep working hard, showing your community that you have what it takes to keep everyone together and care for something as important as the Uni-tree. Who knows? They might choose you.
- All Wattanists have to abide by the Wattanist's Code. It holds all of their rules, traditions, and knowledge. Cozette went against the Code after she became Zokket, so in my fanon, she lost her position at the end of Brothership.
- New Wattanists are chosen at a big ceremony each year. It's against the Code for Wattanists to tell people who they want to choose, or who they're considering. Traditionally, when they choose a person, they explain why they believe that person is worthy of becoming one. Then, the person has to take an oath. It goes something like this:
"[Insert name here], do you promise to uphold the duties and traditions of a Wattanist? Do you swear to care for the Uni-tree, encourage unity amongst your people, and protect our way of living with everything you have?"
And then, the person says something like, "I do!" or "I promise!"
- Wattanists earn their position at a wide variety of ages, but Connie is particularly young. Cozette was the one who chose her.
Characters
- Connie’s earliest memory is being alone on the shoreline of Conductor, with nothing but a broken raft and a tag with her name on it. She doesn’t remember anything from before that.
- As mentioned before, Concordians can drown, and that’s what happened to her parents. They were explorers, and their ship went down in the Stormstar Sea in a very bad, well, storm. As they were trying to escape, their boat was broken apart. Young Connie’s parents were lost to the sea while she was swept away to Conductor.
- Since you first meet Maykit there, I’m also gonna come up with one for her. She is a skilled craftswoman, but if she went to college, she wouldn’t be sure whether to major in Music with a minor in Literature, or major in Lit with a minor in Music.
- In the future, Billdit will take over as the chief of Rumbla Island after his mom.
- Dyode and Emmit are four-time first place winners of the ConnecTalent competition, wowing everyone with their dancing. Also, Dyode’s main thing is, of course, groovy dancing, but he’s also a REALLY good tenor.
- The IDLE kids have their own clubhouse, but they all still live with their families. Ireen’s mom wholeheartedly supports her daughter’s wild interests. Ellow’s dad does, too, but he always wants to ensure that Ellow will be safe. Loog lied to his parents about IDLE, telling them they were a studying/research group. As for Dulles, he doesn’t have a good relationship with his parents. They don’t know about him being part of the gang.
- When the IDLE kids decided to let Peach in their group, they briefly argued over renaming it.
“Should we call it… I don’t know… IDLE-P?” Dulles asked.
“That doesn’t… sound good,” commented Ellow.
“How about PIDLE?” suggested Loog.
“PIDLE’s not a word!” Ireen retorted.
- The IDLE kids have considered entering the ConnecTalent competition, representing Desolatt with a dance routine of their own.
- Peach taught the IDLE kids to bake cakes, and how to hide bombs in them.
- Technikki is a nickname. Her real name is Technicole (which is a pun on technical).
- The Genius Competition in Merrygo isn’t the only contest Technikki has done well in. One year, she won second place in ConnecTalent, representing Merrygo with an original techno song. Before that, she had never sung or rapped in public before, but her performance left everyone in shock.
- I imagine Burnadette and Chilliam having a little girl named Aqualine, or Aqualaide, or something like that. As her name suggests, her hair cords resemble currents of bubbling water, with steam coming from the tips. (Maybe after her, they have twin boys, whom they of course name Mario and Luigi.)
- Cozette was the black sheep of her family. Her parents consistently berated her, and even went so far as to blame her for her sister dying. She felt expected to maintain her bonds with them, even though they weren’t good ones. So, when Reclusa pulled Cozette under his influence, he was preying on her insecurities and pent-up trauma.
- Cozette found a very young Connie on Conductor Island and decided to take her under her wing as her student. Cozette, in spite of herself, developed a strong bond with the young girl.
- I-Witness Island is home to the two renowned news anchors, Ante and Enna.
- There’s also Gozzap, a paperboy and newspaper hawker who is quick on his feet and is always looking for a new story. His mother is one of the gossiping women on Shipshape Island.
- Papara and Zee are two photojournalists and photographers there who are always taking pictures of anything and everything, to the point where it’s a miracle their cameras still have any memory.
- When you go to the news station on I-Witness Island, you’ll also meet a journalist seated at their typewriter, a weatherman, a cameraman, a boom operator, and a field reporter.

Unfortunately my wife will die - this is what awaits her if help does not arrive today. I am writing now to stop this sentence from becoming our reality tonight while she is still breathing. I hold my wife close, counting her breaths, bargaining with time. Donations are scarce every second matters. Please, stop. Share, donate now - your kindness could change tomorrow and keep her alive today please, now. Silence is killing my wife faster than her pain. Every post ignored steals minutes from her life. some white guy on YouTube said he doesn’t like Jo’s and Raissa’s character designs, so as a Filipino, I’m gonna say why their designs are actually great:
IT’S BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE FILIPINOS!
Raissa has that chinita/mestiza look, while Jo is more native-looking. This alone hints a lot at their different socioeconomic backgrounds, showing the studio’s deep understanding of Filipino society.
First, a brief history: The Philippines was colonized by Spain for 333 years, and in that time, some racial hierarchy took place. The Spanish colonial government considered pure native Filipinos as the lowest class citizens, while visiting Chinese merchants or those with Chinese blood were a little higher, then at the very top were the Spaniards or those with Spanish blood. Because of this, the more well-off people tend to be Chinese-looking (chinita) or Spanish-looking (mestiza). Not to say that there aren’t any native-looking (morena) people who are well-off, but the majority do tend to be the other two. Like, the richest people in this country even have a Chinese surname (the Sy siblings). Besides, because of the preference for white skin in this country, a rich person who is born morena may still choose to find ways to lighten their skin, so yeah...
Raissa, with her narrower/almond-shaped eyes and fairer skin, instantly registers to me as a chinita/mestiza. That, plus her lanky figure and long, straight “bagsak” hair immediately reminded me of two classmates who both belong to the upper-middle class society—coincidence or not, these two classmates also wear glasses.
And seeing that Raissa’s family has the capacity to send her abroad for college, the idea that she’s quite well-off checks out. One of her parents/relatives may very well also be an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), who earns a lot more than the average worker in the Philippines.
Now, on to Jo. Although I said before that native-looking people tend to be not as well-off, I’m not saying people with brown skin are automatically Poor. And Jo is definitely not Poor, seeing as how she can also afford to go to a private school:
(My mom’s a public school teacher here in the Philippines, and I’ve never seen such fancy chairs at the schools she’s taught in.)
But compared to Raissa, Jo is still of a slightly lower socioeconomic background.
Jo is in the driver’s seat of this jeepney, a Filipino mode of public transport. We can assume her family owns the jeepney. And I’ve never met anyone who got rich through jeepney driving. Jeepney drivers tend to earn just enough for their families.
This scene also shows Jo working at a fastfood restaurant, so yeah, her family is definitely not as well-off as Raissa’s.
But beyond these points about their socioeconomic backgrounds, their character designs are also instantly recognizable to every Filipino. Like, in my case, I recognized Raissa as one of those nerdy rich kids. People on Twitter are hailing Jo as the first animated representation of a “tomboy,” which, in Filipino queer terminology, refers to a butch/masc lesbian.
so yeah, Filipinos are loving the characters. If you’re a non-Filipino who don’t like how the characters look, then maybe you have to reflect on that...
How strange it is to wake up, open your phone, witness another tragedy, another family grieving, another reason to feel heartbroken... and still have to go to work, answer texts, pay bills, be a person.
If your heart feels heavy, you're not alone.
Care where you can. Rest when you need to. Keep your humanity.

please help two brazilian trans women escape an abusive household
hi, everyone. the situation at home has gotten progressively worse, with my father turning physically abusive and breaking my nose a few weeks ago. Me and my gf need help to leave the house and rent a small place for ourselves, as well as pay for our meds and hrt. We are kind of in a desperate situation right now, and any amount would really help us.
Today is Hawai‘i Admission Day, also known as Statehood Day.
This “holiday” was created to commemorate the anniversary of Hawai‘i’s admission into the United States of America.
This holiday is a sham.
The Kingdom of Hawai‘i was illegally overthrown by American businessman who had the help of U.S Minister John Stevens and the threat of American troops. They forcefully overtook our nation, and declared themselves the new provisional government of Hawai‘i.
Later our nation was made a territory, and in 1959, under the Hawai‘i Admission Act, we were admitted as a state.
There is no treaty of annexation between the Kingdom of Hawai‘i and America. We have not given up our sovereignty. Our kingdom was forcefully overthrown and stolen from us.
Hawai‘i is an illegally occupied nation under the iron fist of the United States.
Statehood supports American greed.
Statehood supports the unsustainable tourism and development of our `āina.
Statehood supports the harmful commercialization of my people and our way of life.
Statehood has allowed the Navy to poison our water again and again.
Statehood has allowed my people to needlessly suffer and die.
Statehood has stripped us of our identities and our nation.
We have fought hard to endure under the occupation of America. We have pushed forward with a cultural rebirth, trying hard to keep our fading traditions alive, but we can only go so far without our sovereignty.
End the American Occupation. Restore Hawai‘i to Hawaiians.

Adultism is the way adults think they are somehow entitled to children's bodies, and how society views it as a negative reflection on the child if they don't immediately accept it.
Do not lay a hand on a child if they don't consent to it. No hugs, no kisses, no taps on the shoulder or ass-slaps or anything like that. Don't pressure them into participating in any of those things. Stop normalizing the idea that physical contact is just something that happens to kids and not something they get a say in.
Of course, there are exceptions for safety. Like if you see a child standing in the road and a car is coming fast, you don't need to ask for their consent to move them out the way. You making your kid hug and/or kiss all the relatives at the family gathering is not that.
