I'm making introductory posts on my other blogs so I thought I'd make one here.

Hello, I'm Asher. I'm 35+, queer (she/they), Australian and, (you may have guessed) Jewish. I'm a long-time Sims player since Sims 1.

I made this blog to document my Decades Challenge which is in its second reboot with no end in sight (I blame the ADHD). I'm feeling a bit paralysed with it but am working on continuing.

My current legacy is the Rozenfeld Legacy, documenting a Jewish family as they navigate life in a shtetl in Simichev.

Pro-tip: if you're making Jewish Sims and you're not Jewish, consider not giving them the following aspirations:

The Fortune aspiration (usually Fabulously Wealthy)

or the following traits:

Kleptomaniac

Materialistic

Evil

Nosy (the nose... really?)

and you're on thin ice if you give them the Deviance aspiration or the Shady trait

What we're not gonna do is be antisemitic OK, thank you

Protips from a Romani person: Most don't prefer non-romani people writing us as characters and ocs. If you are making romani sims for your decades challenges and in general, please do not give them the following aspirations, carreers and occults:

The Deviance Aspiration (any)

The Criminal Career

The Grim Reaper career and Mortician

Make them a fortune teller

Make them a circus performer

Make them a spellcaster or werewolf, you're on thin ice with vampires

The multiple lovers aspirations (Serial Romantic and the one that came with Lovestruck) (Oversexualiztion is rampant in most depictions of us)

or the following traits:

KLEPTOMANIAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evil

Shady

Hot-headed

Lazy

Also in your backstories, do not make us come from abusive families, homeless,prostitutes or kidnappers/criminals. This is extremely bad when coming from non romani people or people without romanipen.

@antiquatedsimmer who kindly understood when I brought up that her romani decades sim, even though well intentioned, could be perceived as offensive. She even asked me for further resources on how to properly research and avoid stereotyping.

So, I tried using a pack disabler to disable a lot of packs that I don't want for my Sims shtetl save. And I tried to load the save... aaaand it fucked up my entire game.

Luckily I have my saves backed up, but it's likely I'll have to repair my game, save all of my files and builds to the gallery, then do a new save file entirely and rebuild it from the ground up.

So uh. Don't do what I did.

hi! i’m a jewish simmer looking to start up another legacy and atp all i know is that i want to bring more jewish rep to simblr lol. i figured i should ask The jewish simmer - is there anything in particular you’d like see? any aspect of jewish life/culture you think is underexplored on simblr? of course i’m not asking you to come up with ideas for me but i *do* want to ensure whatever i create is something that other jewish simmers will enjoy/appreciate, hence the ask :)

You know what - I would actually love to see something inspired by the history of Jews in the Middle East. Many people unfortunately don't realise that not only do we originate in the Middle East, but that we lived there for thousands of years - there's such a rich tradition of Jews in Morocco, Iran, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, etc that isn't often explored, as many people think we are solely Eastern European (and given that most Jews in the US are Ashkenazi and from that region, I understand why).

This is super random but I've been looking for this decades challenge family for forever and wanted to see if you know what blog its from. So gen 1 is a farmer family and gen 2 is a set of twins, a boy and girl. The girl ends up being like a crime lord in gen 2 and I'm pretty sure they used NeedCoffee4That's Pickpocketing mod. It's been driving me crazy

I took a portrait of Esther's family in 1878 (minus two of their younger children) and didn't realise how much her father looks like George Russell from the Gilded Age, lol

Finally made Esther's childhood home - a small farm by the river.
