In this viral intervention project, we found ourselves in a desire to speak about how we are "tired and fatigued", bringing up the reason to "approve vandalism". By finding common touch in our group, our main focus was reproductive rights. Through long discussion and idea transformation, we came up with painting plant silhouettes - symbols of autonomy and resilience - in public spaces. Flowers are not only symbols of femininity and women, but they also reflect a history of women taking control over their bodies-an act that is being criminalized.
By creating a "simulation" of vandalizing and attempting a criminal act, we created fake government websites, fabricated mugshots, and an interrogation video that blurred the line between fiction and reality, reflecting how laws reduce personal freedom into acts of defiance against the state. The accompanying Instagram archive amplifies this voice, proving that art is not just a form of expression but a tool for awareness, dialogue, and change. Besides sharing our feelings of great frustration, we tried to make fun of the excessive control of our bodies and decisions regarding them, and our thoughts, trough acts which are completely quiet and still. The work challenges the absurdity of punishing those who take their right to decide on their bodies: who sets the limits of what is justice or crime?
Our final artefact composed from our printed "wanted" posters, accusing us in "dangerous crime"-painting a beautiful flower silhouettes over the walls.

VIRAL INTERVENTIONS
FINAL PROJECT : video
After projecting our final artifact, we continued our dialogue by interacting with our artpiece. Immitating act of protest, we spray pitted over our mugshots telling to the world we are contenting to "approve vandalism".
In 2024, they banned women’s right to abortion. We responded with plants—symbols of autonomy—spray-painted in places women will see. Each herb carries a history rooted in women’s fight for control over their bodies. This is personal. This is our resistance.
1. THE FAKE GOVERNMENT WEBSITE & OUR MUGSHOTS:
Each mugshot and each fabricated charge reflects the absurdity of criminalizing our bodies and choices. This site blurs fiction and reality, mirroring how laws reduce acts of resistance into offenses against the state. What was once a deeply personal act—exercising control over our own bodies—is redefined as criminal behavior. Through these false charges, we challenge the notion that resistance can be confined to legal definitions. We’re asking why the state’s control over our lives can be protected, while our personal autonomy is branded illegal. By creating this mock government record, we not only question the validity of these ‘crimes’ but highlight the dissonance between what is labeled as criminal and what is simply an act of reclaiming power and agency.
MY BOTANICAL HERB:
I chose the Thuja plant because of its deep historical and symbolic relation to women's reproductive self-determination. Traditionally, it has been used in herbal remedies to support reproductive health, reflecting the long history of women using plants to take control over their bodies. Symbolically, Thuja, often called the "tree of life," represents resilience and endurance. Its evergreen nature evokes strength and persistence, even in adversity. Incorporating Thuja into our graffiti to honor this legacy of resistance and empowerment makes it much stronger as a statement in and of itself against abortion bans for continued bodily autonomy and choice.
3. THE INTERROGATION VIDEO:
In the post-arrest interrogation-style video, we present our truth. Each of us answers questions about our actions—not as criminals, but as individuals acting in response to an unjust system. The interrogation serves as a platform for us to assert that our resistance is not a crime, but a statement of personal and collective autonomy. We don’t seek to justify or deny our actions; we make it clear that reclaiming control over our bodies is not something to be criminalized.
5. THE INSTAGRAM PAGE:
We made an Instagram page to document and archive our work. Each post serves as a record of the graffiti, the herbs, and the message behind them, allowing the work to reach a wider audience. This account is more than just an online gallery—it’s a platform for our collective statement and an extension of our resistance.

Using editing programs such as Lightroom, Photoshop and Illustrator we edited and creates finalised mugshots, as well as WANTED posters, which will be serving as another artefacts for our project
Creation of Stencil
Thuja, which is associated with herbal abortion remedies, takes on the meaning of resiliency and choice through this design. The delicate intricacies of the silhouette contrast from sharp leaves to soft blossoms in this representation of the body's natural agency. An everyday object, this stencil functions more as a quiet and powerful artifact, mapping the continuous thread of women's knowledge to present resistance by reclaiming urban public spaces for critical public speech.
For this artefact, I printed out the black and white silhouette of thuja. Using an Xacto knife and scissors, I carefully cut it out and made a stencil. This stencil is the example of how our thought vandalism we can speak about our rights.

The vandalism acts as simulation and creation of a fictional story around it. The idea is to create a fake Miami-Dade website where we publish our mugshots, along with a mock news video and some "found footage" of us staging the vandalism. The act of vandalism we envision for this project centers on the use of glitter and glue in public spaces as a way of getting across a thought-provoking message about society. This relates conceptually to the "guerrilla girls" in that they took bold, almost subversive approaches to raising awareness about key issues. The final proposal with all accompanying materials will be collated and presented in the original document itself.
Proposal 03 - Large Plywood for people to vandalize
Description
We create a large plywood structure for the public to interact with. They will be provided with different materials (e.g. pens, markers, spray paint, nails, hammer, etc.) to vandalize the large structure. We will record the progression of people vandalizing this large plywood structure. We want to analyze how people naturally react to the different articles on the plywood structure. We want to see the public opinion regarding the current political nature.
Proposal 02 - Live Performance where our group will vandalize large Canvas
Description
We create a large canvas to vandalize as a group in a public space. This performance will be using different materials within the group. Overtime, it will gradually become more and more volatile. We wanted to showcase our frustration and anger towards the current political situation within the United States. This includes the failing of Amendment 4 and the continuous banning of books in the public school system.

Proposal 01 - Vandalizing Multiple Small Canvas with articles in different areas
Description
Creating different small canvases with multiple articles and having them in public spaces. These articles will include current bans, ongoing debates regarding bans, Kamala Harris, and Donald Trump. We will post them in different areas across Wynwood to have people interact with these canvases. In the end of the interaction, we will collect these canvases and present them as an investigative series.
“WE ARE LIVING IN THE CULTURE OF CONSUMPTION WHAT TELLS US WHAT TO EAT AND WHAT TO FEAR”
2. I chose this quote because it describes the omnipresent forces of consumerism and fear-based stories that organize everyday life. It reflects the ways in which societal systems-from what we eat to what we fear-are controlled. I identify with this statement by my experiences of media saturation and marketing tactics that build a false sense of need or urgency. Growing up in a world driven by trends and fear mongering has made me more critical of these systems. It’s a reminder to question who benefits from what we’re told to desire or dread.
3. How do you think consumerism and the use of fear-based narratives shape our personal choices and values? Do you think we are ever in complete control over what we consume and fear, or are we mostly programmed by our society and media? Share in an instance where you feel like the system guided your choice, and reflect if it was in line with your authentic self or you were acting to meet external pressures.
