“That doesn’t make me brave. Bravery was facing down Rose Quartz on the battlefield and going against orders to save those who would have been killed otherwise.” She fumed, her voice rising in pitch, “This is just- I’m sick of being a prisoner, and this is the only path I can take!”

She paused for a moment, listening to Lapis. She knew all too well how the other gem felt, but had to bite her lip to keep from actually talking about it. “You could choose to just let others walk all over you and constantly take you captive, but you don’t. You’ve decided to fight back. I admire that.”

“That explains it.” The ruthless rule enforcement, the distrust she was treated with… the almost instantaneous imprisonment when a superior came aboard… “Well, I certainly won’t be fighting on their side any longer. And if they deem those who are neutral enemies, then I might as well go join the rebels myself.”
