It is also worth noting that he features a yellow golf tee in his head which allows for even more pose-ability in the topmost region of Mr. Boopster through careful repositioning of the tee.  

For my illustration the main technique that I used was tracing of a photo of roads in Los Angeles. I mainly used basic colors and outlines for the majority of the subject matter. I varied the levels of gray for each road based on their height to give added depth without using actual shading. I made the ground a dark brown to emphasize dirt and lack of foliage. I decided to trace all of the vehicles and leave them in as they are seen in the source photo, I found that this gave the image a sense of being real despite the otherwise limited color palette. I also used a silhouette technique for the tree near the center of the image, I chose a very contrasting and vibrant green color to show the life that was once in this area, but is now surrounded by dark grays and browns.

This was my first idea for data visualization. The plan was to vary the levels of transparency of album covers directly proportional to the percentage of total plays that each album covered, and layer them on top of each other so that the ones with the most total plays would show up with greater intensity than the ones with lower play counts. Unfortunately the data wasn't evident in the final image, so I instead decided to make a gif of each layer stacking on top of the other layers.

A Day At The Park

I felt as though the illustrator in this article (Andrew B. Myers) was very successful in his endeavor to create a visual element to the story of how Twitter has negatively impacted the lives of various people. I felt as though the illustrations enhanced the story by catching the eye as the story is being read. I found that the first illustration in particular gave a great representation of what the content of the story would be about. The style is very solid color oriented, the Twitter logo is used as the main subject in all of the illustrations, and contrasting colors are used to great effect to separate the subject from the world around them. The first illustration portrays several Twitter “users” cornering a single user, the ground is yellow, which shows that tensions are rising but they aren't quite “in the red” yet. The second illustration uses shades of blue to reinforce the sadness and ruin that is portrayed in the disheveled appearance of the Twitter bird. The final two illustrations use red to show that the world around these people has become volatile and dangerous. The final illustration shows a glimmer of hope in the form of a tear in the red walls. I found that this use of color was very effective to simply illustrate the situation and mindset of the people in the article.

My data visualization project dealt with my music consumption over the last year or so. I decided to visualize this as a form of bar graph which instead utilized imagery from the artists and albums that I played the most. If I had more time I would expand this idea to incorporate decade, genre and top songs. I intended to make the data be as obvious as possible with minimal written information.

This was my rotoscoping project. It features a speech from (then) President Kennedy on the subject of travelling to the moon. I tried to have the animation style and use of color reflect the (then) unknown implications and qualities of space travel. At first the animation mimics his sentiment, but then it starts to fall apart (Somewhat literally). My intention was to portray what is currently taking place in the United States with regards to policies on space exploration. 

This is a good representation of what my rotoscoping project is about. The scene is interlaced with shots of Kennedy speaking, and I felt that this position had the most symmetry. At this stage the shot is fairly basic, Kennedy has a mere white outline, and the only use of color is on his podium, which represents the permanence of the office he held. He is mere outline because I want to convey that although what he is saying is powerful (Speech about going to the moon) space exploration has always been a fragile thing, especially as of late when NASA has been scaled back significantly. It is particularly difficult to trace over Kennedy from the source video because of the low quality of the early 60's recording, thus his hands become quite difficult to make out. I also chose this frame because it shows both hands, and I had to make my best guess of how his hands actually appeared.  

My partner in crime for this assignment was Simone. Truly this simple path snowballed into some pretty spectacular art, with laser beams.

I find that the red and blue filtered images work best, the red version is more an immediate and intense fear glare, while the blue is a long and psychological fear glare.

Of all of the images that we took during the depth of field experimentation, I found this set to be the most striking when it came to showcasing depth of field. This shows the power that focusing on certain things has. In the first image we really see the detail of the bars, while everything beyond them is extremely blurred and out of focus, in some cases details like the set of bars that are further away, are virually non-existent. Whereas in the second image the opposite is the case, the close set of bars are almost non-existent due to blur, while the details beyond the bars are crystal clear.

For my image I decided to make use of the thread common in all of the book covers, that thread being juxtaposition. Each cover I found combined elements of one or more concepts, thus I decided to simply blend all of the covers using different blending modes, with attention being paid to color unity. The final image uses reds blues and greens in a way that I do not believe to be too visually jarring. I also find that the combined image maintains the "mish-mash" idea rather well, while still being visually interesting .
