The theme of this project will showcase the "camp" aesthetic while demonstrating how non-traditional things that are outside the norm can be seen as art. This is demonstrated through drag and their unconventional fashion that most would not consider art but can be depending on the perceiver's perspective. This project is influenced by Tim Walker and the fashion photography he produces. In another class, we are planning a wedding as our class βcampβ project and I thought it would be an interesting story to tell while taking photos throughout the event. An acknowledgeable work of his Diaries Vol. 2, LOVE Magazine, in 2020. He photographed fashion pieces that also capture the aesthetic camp. Based on the location of the event I will not be able to play with light and shadow but I will be able to get a variety of camera angles and perspectives. I will be creating a photo essay about the wedding and taking a series of photos capturing the aesthetic of the events throughout the event. Showcasing the aesthetic of βcampβ and emphasizing the idea that we can stray away from traditional methods and be more unconventional.
