When commissioning a logo, ALWAYS request it be Vector. Recently I received a request for a logo that said "No vector or Google images, use your imagination". Unfortunately it's a common misunderstanding that "vector" and "clip art" are the same thing. This isn't the case. Although clip art may sometimes be Vector, Vector images can be completely original. Vector refers to a type of a file, not the content of the image. Vector images are made of geometric paths and points. This contrasts with Raster images (like Jpgs) that are made up of pixels (dots). Raster images cannot be enlarged without becoming blurry or "pixelated" but Vector images can be resized to any size while still maintaining quality. This is why Vector logos are important.
