So im sure people have talked about this when the episode came out but i saw things about this episode and saw the unsavory things the director said regarding this episode, and i literally cannot get this out of my head so im going to talk about it
I did , for research, go through this episode to the parts where hugie was in teknights dungeon so id get a bit of an idea of how it was set up.
First off, from context clues and how Tekknight first interacted with Hughie, it seemed IMMEDIATELY he knew he was not the guy he was pretending to be. He detected his heat beat picking up right off the bat and immediately asked him about his safe word and of course he didnt say it. He didnt know it and needed to get the information he came there for .
I think if it stuck with the initial part about cake sitting and stuff . (He seemed weirded out but not distressed about this part ). I think that would have been fine, still not okay because he was still not a consenting party ,but fine for an edgy show. Maybe they could have leaned more into those type of weird kinks there are A LOT like that, but no they pushed it.
While the tickling scene seems harmless and is played up for obvious comedic purposes . And when its happenign you have to see where the director is saying the comedy is coming from, what is the joke? From rhe framing the comedy that Hughie is CLEARLY distressed with the threats she is making and is throwing out random words trying to guess the safeword.
That , made me sick, also the fact later while he breaks down regarding being sad about his dad he also specifically brings up that part in the dungeon. He was actually not okay no matter how he tried to act calm and collected.
After that part where he's distressed Tekknight once again hints he knows this isnt the guy he's pretending to be. He says something like " oh he will use his safe word if hes done. " Then almost immediately after that he points out he's trembling then removes his mask, saying his full name.
He dosent seem even a bit surprised. He just immediately goes over to start living out his sick fantasy.
Yes, hes not supposed to be a sympathetic character or a good guy at all. But why is the director framing the butt of the joke is, men sa. Especially when apparently, they handled one of the woman's sa pretty well ( i can't confirm thats just what ive heard).
Im not here to say the whole show is terrible but from what ive seen i think i personally wouldnt be able to emotionally handle it. The whole plot in criminal minds with spencer reid being kidnapped and tortured already wrecked me , this show would kill me.
But thats all , i just needed to talk to someone about this because its been paging my thoughts all week and i needed to just get my thoughts out on it
Me who knows nothing about the boys wanting to just write a story where i just have untouchable powers that allow me to just inveterate every single person who every hurt Hughie
Just to be clear i know if i watched the boys id absolutely love Hughie campbell
But i have also heard of stuff that happens to him and i can BARELY handle what happened to Spencer , i think id literally fall into a depression because it seems like the director themselves dosent even really care what happened to him.
I would love to see it for him but i emotionally cannot i think it literally ruin my day to see such a sweetheart get treated the way he does

rant about a tik tok i saw regarding opinions and books
The girl who made the original video got enough hate regarding her tik toks but i felt like i wanted to talk about thre situation.
In the video i saw it was he talking about the backlash and how " i can't believe people are calling me evil for my take about books im so shocked." Then she said " since im pretty i was always told i have to be lice and agreeable and i think people were just mad about me speaking my mind"
These are not 1 for 1 quotes but the gist .
Now i fully believe people took it too far because everyone does on the internet, but with her tone youd think shed just be saying something like " man i dont like the romance genre, i wish there was more people promoting other books" which would be fine but also, you be the person recomending them then , be the change and all that.
But no
She said " im never taking suggestions feom all you little bitches on book tok all the ones you recommended are pooly written and i read fanfic that were better written"
That was not at all just speaking your mind, rhat was specifically undervaluing people due to the books they enjoyed. I dont like colleen hover books or western novels but because of that i dont go online saying just general and degrading things about them, because people read all types of books for all types of reasons.
I personally didnt like the love hypothesis and thought the second lights out book lacked a lot. But i dont go on videos of people talking about g about how much they liked the book and say " yeah well it sucked and i cant believe youre the type of person that likes that stuff " no they can like what they like and if i really dislike it i can block and blacklist things to clean up my social media feed.
I know this is rich coming from me who is writing this but people do not need to know every opinion you've ever had. And i feel the romance genre in general gets a bad rap when it's literally mostly women just playing out fantasies. Like let people enjoy stuff, and if you're really so but hurt about people recommending romance, just block those creators and move on, then do your due diligence and find some books you like and recommend those.
But while i am at work leave me to my silly romances , i just need to be distracted its not that deep loll
