Noticing the way Jesse’s hands still moved under hers, shaking, her own thumb subconsciously brushed over his skin. “I know.” They’d all been through it, there was no use in explaining that she’d felt exactly as Annie did now. 

Despite her agreement, and the fact she genuinely did want to find Annie, Hanna made no motions to move. Because she was so close to Jesse, like this, and it felt - safe. Comforting. She needed a moment before she pulled herself away from that. 

Unfortunately, her touch didn’t do much to ease his shaking, his body completely wracked with fear. It did, however, make it a little easier to breathe, as if some of the weight on his chest was being shared. And considering how much Jesse was carrying, the support was very much needed, and something he wasn’t sure he could ever thank her for. He’d never had it before, which was only something he’d noticed after joining the Rebels, so receiving it now, especially from someone who was perfect in Jesse’s eyes, felt like luck. And not something he deserved. Jesse nodded silently, unsure of what else there was to say.

In the silence, he looked over at her, observing her expression. Obviously no one was okay right then, but still, he wasn’t sure if something else had happened that he should know about. It wasn’t entirely like Hanna to be so quiet. “Hey,” he started, removing one of his trembling hands from under hers and tucking a stray piece of her hair behind her hair. “Are you okay? I mean, y’know, like.. apart from this?” He winced almost immediately, not sure how that had sounded.
