It cannot fly, but still, the SprayPrinter is a pretty able contender in the age of drone graffiti. Similar to Carlo Ratti’s Paint by Drone project, the SprayPrinter works in a closed circuit and is controlled digitally. With it’s direct attachment to the vertical surface and camera feedback the SprayPrinter can achieve a high degree of precision in its paintings. Before taking their tool to town, SprayPrinter released a smaller hand held device last year. It’s possible to buy online and has a thriving community around it.

The technique is new. The drone itself is leaning against the wall for some sort of stability, like  Constantin CLAUZEL’s grapher drone and other projects I’ve heard about. But the paint mechanism is working independently of the drone’s movements, making it possible to create actual written letters quite freely. Most likely each letter have been programmed, meaning that it would be possible to make any letters and words with this. And the message is clear.

Droneknight1 has hit the walls! As mentioned, Shmulik Bilgoray has come quite far with his graffiti drone. Now he has released the first video with his drone doing real life action graffiti painting (after elegantly escaping a crash with a tree). Pretty smooth!
