*of memories past
it was kind hard to believe how she hadnât bump onto him around the city beforeâbut she guessed that could be blamed on the fact she got too busy to think on anything but college and work for the past years. her group of friends, that used to be huge during high schoolâas she was such a popular kidâreduced to just a few close friends that she had made after getting into college and some acquaintances. seeing a familiar face from her past (the best part of it), made her feel some warmth inside of her. âwellâi can see that,â she joked, taking a look at him as noticed the tattoos he mentioned. he looked a lot like a grown up, like a cool one, to be honest.
sitting down and smiling at how heâd joined her, she quickly put her stuff into her bag and leave it on the free chair beside her. a nod was the only answer she could give to that, as well as a laugh that seemed impossible to ignore as holly just felt as great as she once did during her teen yearsâit had been such stressful years that she couldnât remember how great her life used to beâeverything was just good and happy back then.
âyep⌠i guess we can point that out.â hollyann chuckled, tilting her head. âi am doing what i like, though i have lots of work and things to study and âknowâ⌠but thatâs the life of a med student, right?â saying that, she gave a shy smile as she couldnât be sure if he remembered about her passion for medical school when they were younger. âbut i am pretty sure lifeâs treating you a way better.â placing her arms on the table, she smiled quietly, looking at him. âwhat have you been doingâbesides showing your swag with all those tattoos and beard that might make girls go crazy?â
He shrugged as if to say he didnât need to expect anything more or anything less. It was nice to see someone grow rather than change completely, where Jeremiah had barely gone through with either option. Either way, he kept himself comfortable by leaning into the table slightly. He remembered eating his lunches with her and the crew, quiet exchanged amongst a long cafeteria with riveting conversations going back and forth in every which way.
Ah â thatâs right. Jeremiah nodded obediently as she spoke, mesmerized by the fact that she fell through with a dream sheâs had for such a long time. When she insinuated that he was living far better than she was, he rose an eyebrow. Then came the funny words falling from her mouth, a particular charm about Holly was that she could pretty much get away with saying anything as long as she smiled and frankly, Jeremiah muffled a laugh and gave her a slight look when she asked her final question.
He didnât really know how to react so he continued to smile brightly, a contagious thing, she was. Smiles and all, it brought him back to the days that he wished he could get out of school earlier and faster than anyone else to get working on cars. Though, as a matter of fact, it seems as though heâs followed through with a dream of his own as well.
âMy swag, with all these tattoos anâ beard that might make girls go crazy.â He repeated her words exactly, giving her a look to say that he still couldnât believe she had said that. But finally he laughed, habitually putting a hand through his hair while speaking absentmindedly. âYou amaze me.âÂ
âI decided to stay away from college, went straight into the car dream that you guys used to warn me about.â He smirked teasingly while shrugging. âIâve been working with classic cars and, itâs nice. These âre all cars that are rare, arenât being made no more and they mean a lot to people who own âem. Itâs real nice.â
