Fake Names #39824097
I hate trying to date in Korea because Koreans think they are "helping" foreigners by giving them a fake name.
I hate to break the news to Koreans but...
1. Korean pronunciation is not anywhere close to Chinese
2. It is fucking annoying
3. It isn't your real name The names that I get range from weird to bizarre to down-right-fucked-up Today's word of the day is: Lion Oh yes, you may think...."Oh, but he must mean Ryan" And I would say...No....No it mustn't I told Lion to head back to his pride and take his along with him, because honey-boo-boo child don't play games like that. Final word: Ain't NOBODY got time for that.

I have a new rule when I make friends with/date asians
The one rule is:
You get one chance to tell me where you are from.
If after your first time you either: change where you are from, lied about where you are from, or do something else that cancels out your initial choice, then I will completely ignore you
I don't know when Asia developed this bullshit culture...but it has to stop....now.
You are from one place. Not 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6
I don't care if you studied in the States for 2 semesters...you're not American
I don't care if you best friends' aunt's grandmother's daughter in-law is half German...you aren't German.
I actually don't even care if you parents traveled for work somewhere.
It is like....cut the identity crisis bullshit out......you are in your 20's and 30's for christ sake

Whenever I wonder what my 누나 is doing it always seems like she is up to something not good. A guy with a hello kitty tattoo skateboarding breaking your bones
Yaoi must be coming. Love her, but that hoe is cray cray
If, as a English teacher, you wonder/worry if your job may be in jeopardy...or ....think OH NO maybe Koreans are getting good at Korean and they will need less teachers. Read this article, and feel safe again.
Overbearing Koreans
Has anyone else gone on dates with Koreans and they are just like...ridiculously retarded? I mean there are people that know me well. They know I eat spicy food, have lived in Korea for over 3 years, and speak Korean fluently. However, they will say the stupidest shit ever. Example Oh! Be careful when eating kimchi, it is spicy. Oh! This is the Han River....have you heard of it before? Oh! Busan has its own dialect, maybe you don't know it. This shit doesn't piss me off because oh what they say, but because it implies that I am somehow ignorant and they belittle my education in East Asian Studies and my effort that I have put in to becoming well educated on Korea. This has got to go.
When you are translating a sentence...but in Korean that sentence is actually 8 sentences in English.....lets spin the wheel for a vowel....and....10 subjects please!

How not to sound like a fucktard when you speak Korean
You should know that the veterans of learning/speaking Korean have been around the block a few times. We know the grammar well, and we have studied through the levels at one or more language institutes. So that means don't come at me saying you speak really good Korean...yet have every sentence you speak end with 는데요/거든요 I get it...you just passed level 3 and they taught you a really cool new grammar point. Don't over use it....and don't get cocky. Your Korean still sucks.
How I feel about teaching English at my school....after I look at the others working with me.
Korean word of the month!
So I was partying it up hardcore till late...I would say like 11:30~12pm because you know how I roll.... ANDDDD ANYWAY So I am at the club and see all the Ajummas and Ahjussis pretending they are still in their prime of 45 and like hanging out like the cool kids on the block. I started thinking...WTF are they doing in the back alleys of Itaewon drinking and like...dancing. I turned to my friend and he was like...oh probably 불륜 which is adultery////// Basically I just ㅋㅋㅋed So have fun with that one...and with all the "fun" ahjummas the next time ur out 불륜 불륜의 사랑 불륜의 관계 (this one seems redundant)
혹시 불륜 같은 현장을 들켜 본적이 잇어? ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Translate that and have fun...keep learning ^^
Self realization
Who the fuck are you?
It seems that in Korea there are many ways to say "Who you are" or just to refer to yourself. I recently posted a way to translate "who you are" in the sense of Don't forget who you are. I gave the word 자기의 분한 Although this is a good way to translate it, i.e. word for word, it can confuse Koreans. After checking with my 누나 she said it just sounds like 분하다 and isn't very natural compared with 분수 But to just K.I.S.S a good way to refer to one's self is usually going to be 자신 As for who you are your "essence" Another good way to translate it would have been to say 자체 referring to the same 자 as in 자신, but this has a bit of an "essences" meaning behind it. Hope this helps!
You are SO STUPID!
How I feel meeting people who can't speak Korea...

So pretty much every time I like an English song, I translate it into Korean in my head just for fun and for the practice. But I’m a little stuck on one concept.
You can hear it in Jessie J’s “Who You Are” song:
Don’t lose who you are In the blur of the stars Seeing is...
who you are - the person that you are - the essence that makes you unique It is best to refer to it as 자기의 분한
자기의 분한을 잊지 마 자기의 분한을 지켜라 who you are
-that person that is special/unique as previously written 이대로 means that way this is good, but 그대로 is maybe a little better 너 그대로를 좋아해
This is the motto I have adopted here in Korea
