@onedirection: MORNING!
Is this a date? | Sept 10, 2014
Kai watched Jensen throw his coin into the fountain, the water splashing around it as it sunk to the bottom. It took her seconds of staring blankly ahead of her, before she finally twisted her upper body to rummage through her purse, in search for her own coin to throw, her tongue sticking out the way it usually didāher father had once pointed outāwhen she was in a deep concentration.
Why did she have so much trash in such a small bag? That was the question. However, a small breath of relief was exhaled when she felt the cold, hard, embossed surface of a penny on her fingertips, and without a second thought, she sent it hurtling through the air and towards the fountain, coming up with her wish at the very last minute.
"Youāre not supposed to tell people what you wished for," she said, giving him a sly smirk as she hooked her arm with his. "If I told you then it wouldnāt come true."
"I guess not," he replied, glancing at Kai with a bit of a smile on his lips, "But I figured I would try." Jensen led Kai away from the fountain and at a leisurely place, toward the Bean. As they held hands and moved toward the famous structure, Jensen had found himself at ease--a stark difference between how it had been when he was trailing behind her trying to clean up the messes he hadn't meant to create. As they glided toward the structure, he traced the city skyline in the reflection, biting at his lip with a bit of satisfaction. He had visited the park during his very first week in the city and had marveled at the image of his new home reflected on its shiny surface. Tugging her arm lightly, they stood beneath the Bean in the center, his eyes trailing to the image of the city, distorted but widespread above his head. "I came here my first week," he began, "felt like it all came together for me when I was here."

He kissed her. Jensen kissed her again even after she pulled away, a smirk beset on his lips as he leaned in, his eyes drooping to a close. It had taken Kai by surprise, and for a millisecond (or so it felt like), she had her eyes wide open, staring at his eyelashes. It mustāve lasted half a second or so, she was sure it was, until finally, she felt herself succumbing to his touch, leaning closer, closer, closer, her head spinning, heart racing.
Sheād just started growing accustomed to the feeling of his lips against hersāsoft and warm, it wasāand was slowly coming to the conclusion that it was better when it was him who leaned down as opposed to her reaching out for him, when he pulled away. An involuntary frown found its way to her lips, as did her hand, which gave her lower lip a light tug as if to peel his kiss away and hide it in her pocket for a rainy day.
"Itās better now," she says breathlessly, her chest heaving up and down. She gave his hand a light squeeze as he brought her closer to the exit, reluctantly following him out when all she wanted to do was hide away in the maze and kiss him for days (a stark contrast to the desperation to get out she felt earlier). She feared things would change in the daylight, but when they stepped out, the only noticeable change in Jensen was that he was more relaxed now, more confident. He talked a lot more, too, which wasnāt a bad thing. It was getting boring to always be the one filling the gaps of silence between them with nonsense.
"Um," is the only thing she manages to slip in, before he goes off about being a tour guide. She blinks furiously at him, trying to figure out if he was just joking around, or if this was what sheād previously heard the girls at the bathroom in the cinemas were talking aboutāthe whole after kissing flirting and teasing, their favorite part.
"If it turns them off," Kai starts, "then that leaves more for me. More of you for me, I mean. So, um, I think, for me, you being from another country is a good thing." Sheād stumbled all over her words, pausing as if to double check if sheād worded them right, while in the back of her head, their kisses replayed over and over again, like a broken record player stuck on a loop. Under her breath, she cursed herself and prayed for a little more confidence. "So, you know, like, mine. My foreign tour guide.ā
As they crossed Lakeshore Drive and set foot on the cement that curled around the Fountain and the Bean, he squeezed her hand a little bit as though to keep her on the same page and led her toward the main events at a leisurely pace. The air was warm against his face but the wind seemed everlasting, blowing his curls into his eyes with momentary huffs. It was a sensation he had gotten used to and one that made him happy though his hair was not too long and not too blinding. Glancing at Kai and her long, wavy locks, he imagined the wind blowing strands against her light skin. Involuntarily, his gaze traced to her lips before he revoked his gaze and continued looking forward. Around them, the city buzzed; on top of the inescapable city din was the sweet reverie of children whose parents had bought them ice cream and who sat on the edge of the fountain deciding what their ever-important wish was. He pulled her to a stop before the fountain, shoving his hand into his pocket, groping for a few coins. Jensen held out a quarter to her.
"Your foreign tour guide," he echoed, sweeping his thumb against the cold, shiny surface of the coin, "thinks we should do everything traditionally. Make a wish."
He decided while the coin was doing backflips in the air that he wished that everything--this, especially--would turn out right, whatever right is. Jensen wasn't the kind to put much stock in such silly things, but figured it was worth the try in the meantime. As he waited for her to make her own wish, he stuffed his hands in his pockets again and watched the water as it was pushed and pulled with the sudden but dependable gusts of wind.
As a young couple sped past them on bikes, Jensen motioned for them to keep moving. "What was it?" They say that if you tell someone your wish, there is no way that it will come true, but if Jensen had pinned her well enough, and he thought he had, what she wished for would come to realization with or without divine intervention. He gave her a little bit of a smile with the question, one that softened the blow of his words and made his request a little more inviting. In the middle of the city, Jensen found himself feeling more at home than he even did in the dorms. It rose his spirits--brought out the playfulness in him,

Kai watched as Jensen tugged her along, her eyebrows furrowing at their fingers interlaced with one another, and how this time, it was him initiating the hand holding; how, this time, he was the one refusing to let go. It was a nice change, she decided, and maybe if she was persistent enough and started acting more like a regular human being who was raised right, sheād get more of these moments. More of Jensen taking the lead, that meant, and no more careful Jensen who tried to avoid any erratic outburstsāgood or badāas much as possible.
As Jensen spoke of bad dates and how, unfortunately, she wasnāt the worst, a lopsided grin found its way to her lips (and painfully so, considering her face was still very much swollen from her breakdown). Kai kept her gaze glued to their hands, her stomach twisting and turning in knots as they moved along. It wasnāt that hard to navigate the maze, apparently; she was just distracted.
"ā¦Didnāt blow over too well," Jensen finished off. Kai let out a slight chuckleāshe deemed it appropriate to do soāand allowed her thumb to rub against Jensenās as if she were trying to figure out if this was real, if he wasnāt going to evaporate into nothingness anytime soon. She merely smiled when he offered her the lousiest American date title, too caught up in holding his hand again to care. After all, maybe in her delirious state from earlier this week, she couldāve just made him up inside her head.
"We donāt have to give up on the date if you donāt want to, Kai," Jensen continued after her silence. Kaiās head tilts to the side when she glances up at him, a thin blanket of confusion falling over her features, contorting her expression along with it. He mentioned hot chocolate and movies back at the dorm, and at this her mind wavered to thoughts of lying in bed with him, their limbs tangled with one another as their breathing evened out to a calm peacefulness, whatever movie they had chosen serving as background noise. It was a good idea, she decided, especially since the temperatures were dropping, but not just yet.
"I kind of want to see everything first," Kai mumbles, "just get it over with so I can stop wondering what itād be like to see, like, you know, The Bean with my own two eyes."
They were nearing the exit now, and ahead of her she could see a bright white light streaming in through an open door. Kaiās heart begins to race, an overwhelming urge of now or never washing over her. Sheās read plenty about how the night were made for things you couldnāt say in the day, but she figured that this darkness was an alright substitution for things she couldnāt do otherwise.
"Jensen," she says quickly, stopping in her tracks. "Jensen," she says again, giving his hand a light tug, "speaking of wondering what things would be likeā¦" Kai gives his hand another tug, much stronger than the last, and brings him closer to her.
Just get it over with, a voice in her head said, and then maybe you can stop thinking about it so much.
Okay, the other voice replied. Good idea. The devil and the angel on her shoulders were in full agreement on what she was about to do.
"Justālet meā¦" Kaiās voice trailed off into a whisper as she got on her tiptoes, tryingāas much as her short legs would allow herāto level her head with his. Her eyes traced his every feature in this proximity, and the thump thump thumping of her heart drowned out any noise, his voice and the fair-like music included. She felt as though she might pass out, her lungs constricting in her chest, her fingertips feeling like theyād been dipped in ice. And then, as the surge of confidence she had been waiting for kicked in, she cups his cheek with her free hand and gives him a light peck on the lips, lingering for a second before eventually ripping herself away in contentment.
"Just curious," she mumbles. "Sorry. You were saying?"
<i>"Just curious." </i>
Jensen's cheeks were painted a light rosy color once her palm brushed against his skin, her breath close as it glided over his lips in anticipation. It wasn't hard to figure out what was happening, but when her lips pressed against his, he found himself caught in momentary reverie. Their lips lay on top of each other almost perfectly, hers slightly lower as she struggled to reach his height and they were soft but fleeting. It was but half a second before her lips left his and his breath normalized, a little bit of longing in his gaze. Jensen had been thinking about this the moment he saw her, among other things if he was to be completely honest, but hadn't expected such an innocent moment after having shared such an experience. In this moment, Jensen was freed of his usual fog and was completely certain that he was falling and he was falling fast.
With a bit of a smirk set on his features, he bent down to kiss her again. Their lips were warm as they touched and his eyes fell closed at the small embrace, but to mirror her actions, he stole away quickly and said, "Good first week of school, right?" They could go farther and he thought about going farther, but he couldn't picture the moment overlaid with hot breath and a urgent clashing of lips. It didn't fit. Instead, he started to lead her toward the exit once again, their feet shuffling the lighter corridor leading to the exiting staircase.
As they exited the structure, Jensen caught the curious gaze of the woman who had let them into the funhouse in the first place; he thought he saw her eyebrow perk up as he led her into the thicket of tourists, but a father with his child blocked his view. Jensen almost blushed but he didn't have much to hide. The funhouse had temporarily patched their relationship, he thought.
"So, the Bean," Jensen began. His voice was a little softer now, a little more distracted, but thankfully a lot less apologetic. He pulled her toward the direction of Milennium park with Lake Michigan waves crashing against the pier next to them. "Kind of a must-see, and right across the street." When he noticed a large gap in front of them, he glanced over at her and traced carefully her features: her eyes were still slightly red and her makeup had gotten smudged here and there, but her cheeks were still rosy and the curiosity that she carried remained on her features. As he had suspected before, he was falling too much too quickly. "I could be a pretty good tourguide, right? Being from a different country would probably turn people off, though."

CJ trailed along the familiar dormitory hallways, his suitcase rolling behind him as he carried various other things under his arms and in his free hand. He had barely bothered to look at his room mate assignment, only remembering his name to be Jensen...something. He would have to avoid the awkwardness of asking what his last name was, the paper had to be somewhere among his things.Ā
He hadn't given much though to how this year would be with a new roommate. His last two hadn't been anything special, didn't cause any trouble, but also hadn't particularly sparked any interest in CJ. All this was fine with him even though he had set out to college with the intention of having more in depth relationships with people other than the occasional hang out on the weekend and being lab partners. Maybe this Jensen guy would make a good first impression, this being very important to CJ as he tended to decide if someone was worth getting to know or not within about five minutes of meeting them. Not the best way to start off a new school year by getting off on the wrong foot with your roommate, CJ decided he'd try and give this guy a chance. Struggling with all the luggage he had dragged with him, he finally managed to find his room.
Jensen was at work trying to assemble his computer. Carefully, he hoisted the tower from his a carboard box and slid it underneath his desk before reaching to drag a mess of cords underneath. With familiarity, he quickly put the connections together. Jensen had build this computer during the summer before his sophomore year at Diyon and while it was annoyingly heavy, it was high-powered and well used. Admittedly, his laptop was a little better for toting around to classes and the library, but for that he was dependent on the school's laptops.
He had been backing out from under his desk when he heard the door open and accidentally slammed his head against the top counter. He winced but he had done this often enough that he didn't cry out, only set a hand atop his curls and tried half-heartedly to rub out the lasting ache that came from the collision. At the same time, Jensen got back to his feet and found CJ standing in the doorway, his things held in a delicate balance in his arms. Letting go of his head, he held a hand out in an effort to help him place all of his things on the mattress without dropping them coupled with a bit of a smile. It was only minorly hampered by the headache. "You must be the new roommate. I'm Jensen." After three years, he'd nailed his introductions to a concise science.
- I know that you think you sound silly when you call my name, but I hear it inside my head all day -
