Red Beach in Panjin, China

Panjin Red Beach in China is not covered in sand at all. The redness is caused by a type of sea weed, Sueda. It starts growing during April and May, then stays green during the summer, but starts turning vividly red in autumn.

[friday] haechan waits for you outside the school gates after school, leaning against his motorbike with a single stem of red rose resting in between his fingers, anxious as he looks into the crowd for your silhouette. 

he bites his lip as you walk out from the gates flustered from your friends’ teases; you shyly tuck a stray piece of hair behind your ear as you lift your gaze to meet with his own, the back of your mind hushing your friends as you huff a breath as they urge you towards the boy in his favorite leather jacket, and he straightens his knees, lips pressing into a small, tight-lip smile that you know too well. 

“mm, here.” he hands you the rose as you step forward to him, cheeks flushing bright cherry as you can’t help but break into a huge smile, reaching both hands to take the flower from him, hands momentarily brushing against his knuckles which he can’t help but feel his heart skip a beat. 

“aww, you shouldn’t have.” you thanked him, bringing the petals to your nose as you inhale its rosy scent, your eyes locking with his. he’s trying hard to not notice how people around you are staring and how much he needed to remain his calm figure; but he can’t help but blush, and looks away shyly, scratching the back of his head, trying hard to hide his burning cheeks. but you giggle and quickly lean in to peck his hot cheek, murmuring you’re cute in his ear and you watch him knit his brows together for knowing all his soft spots, and he loves it when you say he’s cute.

➳  things you said I would never understand

“I always wondered what it was like to be in love.” He says slowly, exhaling a whiff of white smoke through his mouth.

The cigarette dangles dangerously loose in between his fingers as his eyes scans the city view below him, humming with the busy vehicles on the freeway, the lights shimmering like the soft summer waves you remember staring at last summer with a boy who’s nothing more than a white blur in your memory now. You look up to him beside you, your gaze tracing the highs of his cheeks, the tip of his nose, the arc of his cupid bow, and all the way up to his hooded lids rubbed with exhaustion you want to kiss away so badly, and you are suddenly reminded of the first day you learnt his name, the way it rolls of your tongue so smoothly, each letter forming on the tip of your tongue as if you’ve already said it a thousand times the past few lifetimes.

“Spend some time with me,” he whispers, hand caressing the flesh behind your ear, as he huffs out a breath into the crook of your neck. His breath is warm on your skin, eyelids fluttered closed and he is perfectly curled next to your figure, still wrapped in the tangled sheets from the night before. Your skin is stained with sweat still, his voice laced with guilt, but you can’t make out what he has done so wrong he is suddenly like this, soft and willing to be by your side, sober and still choosing you. Or maybe this was another test? Something for his art pieces but have yet found the right feeling for. Is this what he is doing? Searching for answers in you, because you’re all he has left, and you both know just how willing you are to being one step away and taking a bullet for him without ever second guessing. Because of love? Or you’re just so ready for death that you’re okay with however it knocks on your door?

Lust is not wanting to have sex with other people. Lust is using sex to hurt other people or hurting another person in a sexual way.

Gluttony is not eating lots of food (your own stomach will tell you when enough is enough). Gluttony is when you have enough resources to yourself that you could house and feed the rest of the population of your city but you keep it to yourself because you do not want to give up the power associated with it.

Greed is not wanting to improve the state of your material life because it would improve your quality of life. Greed is taking opportunities and resources away from already marginalized people. (And if someone tells you that a service you benefited from and it actively improved your life was not meant for you specifically, then there needs to be more of that resource).

Envy is not looking at someone who has a higher quality of life and wanting to improve it. Envy is when you are looking to take away from someone who is in the same situation as you. The example the Bible (or catholic school) uses is a man looking at another man’s wife when his own wife loves him very much and is equal to the other woman in every way that is important.

Sloth (aka laziness) isn’t when you’re exhausted or hurting and being too tired to do anything else. Sloth is when one contributed nothing to the work and yet reaps the rewards of the work.
