If you were being very honest, Jung Jaehyun was all that. No exaggerations or extra praise; it was something that everybody knew.
Jaehyun was the poster-child for what every student athlete in college should be like: he had a full paid basketball scholarship that was offered to him in high school, myths say he was scouted as early as middle school but declined the offers more than twice (which meant that he was just that good.) To no surprise at all he was chosen as team captain during his sophomore year, and ever since, there was no basketball game ever lost. Now, it was fairly easy to assume that sports-heads like him flunked out of all their units and failed classes, but he didnât. He took up an (extremely difficult) economics major and always kept his GPA high enough to be consistent on the Deanâs List. On occasion, the Dance club on campus would ask him to join some of their routinesâ and rarely, all the musical clubs would successfully get him to sing for formals. And the cherry on top of all that? He looked like he was personally sculpted by each of the gods, and donât get fooled by that statement because he did get modeled by the art club once before.
So how was it that you took the same advanced Literature class? You didnât know either, but you did share some of the same classes over the years. Itâs just that you didnât understand why he even took this class in particular; taking it up implied that your course probably really needed it, and by the looks of it he did not need this one at all.

Summary: You had to fill in for your elder sister at her daughter's PTA. While your niece was busy playing, you ended up befriending a cute little boy who likes reptiles.

(Y/N) waved at her niece from under the gazebo in an attempt to get her to come eat some of the snacks that had been laid out.
When her sister had told her that she would have to attend her PTA when she was watching her daughter for the week, she had expected a small evening where teachers filled in on the child's progress. What more could a toddler require, after all.
Instead the school organises a day where the guardians can watch their children walk around and interact with other children.
It was to 'see what the school had done for the child. Not what the child has done for the school', as Hope's teacher had put it.
Hope, her niece, who was currently running around the generous lawn with her classmates. Dotted across the edges of the lawns were other parents and guardians like her, watching their kids while they sipped on lemonade and occasionally spoke to one of the teachers passing by.
Private School was a different place, (Y/N) thought.
After getting tired of standing in the same place, she ventured out to walk across the compound to see all the things the school claimed to provide its students.
Just as she was crossing the green house, (Y/N) saw a lone boy sitting on the steps as he dug a small patch of soil up with a stick. He looked up when he heard approaching footsteps, curious eyes gazing at her.
"Why are you sitting here all by yourself?" She asked the boy as he focused his attention back to the ground. He just shrugged as he resumed poking the ground. "Have you eaten anything? Do you want a cookie?" She asked again, offering the cookies she had in the small bag in her hand.
"I'm sorry, my dad told me not to take anything from a stranger. Thank you very much though." He told her.
"Okay." (Y/N) smiled at the boy's considerate response. "I'm Hope's aunt. You're in her class, right?"
The boy looked up then, putting a hand over his eyes and squinting a little to get a better look.
"Hope's right, you are very pretty." He looked back to the floor, "Is it true that you wrote that book in our class? About the hippo?"
(Y/N) laughed, giving him a nod. "Yes, I did."
"My dad reads me the Mr. Dragon book too. Hope said you wrote that too." He gave her a smile. "He's my favourite."
(Y/N) took a few steps closer, "You don't find lizards scary?" He shook his head at the ground.
"Only the venomous ones." He answered absent-mindedly.
"I love reptiles." She told him, an endearing smile growing on her lips.
"I know. Hope told me you also have a pet iguana." He looked up again with a smile, "Is he cute?"
"He's adorable." She smiled, "Hope and you are friends?" She questioned and the boy nodded.
"When her dad died, I told her she could share my dad. He told me once that he really wanted to give me a little sister so." He swayed his legs, dropping his stick to give her his full attention.
(Y/N) blushed at what clearly was private information, giving the boy a nod. "That's very sweet of you. Hope was very sad when that happened. So thank you for offering her that."
"Do you mind if I have that cookie now?" The boy asked shyly." She smiled and walked up to him, sitting down beside him and offering him the bag.
"I'm (Y/N) (Y/L/N)." She told him when he took the bag.
"I'm Suh Yoonjae." He answered, extending his hand out to her in what she realised was a handshake.
"You have such good manners, Yoonjae. It's very nice to meet you." She shook his hand back.

Johnny had finished talking to Yoonjae's teacher minutes ago. Yet he stood at the refreshment stand, being bombarded with questions. It was usually the worst part about PTA meetings. Having to talk about why Yoonjae's mother stopped coming without sounding explicitly bitter was a genuine task for Johnny the more of these he attended.
Eventually, Johnny lost patience, telling all the parents surrounding him that he had to go look for his son to give him his juice and snacks.
He walked around a little before he spotted Yoonjae in front of the green house, sitting next to someone who was reading something out from her phone. He walked up to them, assuming that she must have been a new teacher.
"Dada!" Yoonjae looked up as Johnny's shadow fell on him. Johnny paused, absolutely surprised by the large smile on his son's face. "It's the Mr. Dragon lady! She said she's writing one about a dinosaur and she'll name it Jae after me!" He giggled, eyes disappearing into his cheeks from his wide grin.
Johnny couldn't remember the last time he'd seen him so happy. Ever since his mother gave away all her custody to Johnny, Yoonjae had been quiet and very reclusive.
Johnny turned to the woman just as she turned to give him a sheepish smile.
"I'm sorry, he was sitting here by himself so I wanted to give him some company, I hope you don't mind. My niece is in Yoonjae's class." She explained.
"Yes Dada! Hope shares you with me, right? Now I can share her aunt too." He grinned at his father before turning that back to the women.
"Oh, you're Hope's aunt." Johnny nodded as he pursed a grin, stepping just a little closer so his shadow could fall on her and he could get a look at her face. "Her mom has mentioned you a few times."
"Yes," She stood up from the steps, extending her hand out. "I'm (Y/N) (Y/L/N). I write and illustrate children's books. Which is what your son meant by Mr. Dragon lady." She pointed back at Yoonjae.
Johnny smiled at her, reaching his own hand out. "I'm John Suh. I work in advertising." He shook her hand, noting how soft it was. "I can't believe I'm meeting the woman who's written my son's favourite book. I'm almost feeling a little starstruck." He grinned when she blushed.
"That's very kind of him to do and extremely kind of you to say." She gave him a shy smile while her eyes scanned his face intently, still shaking his hand for a moment longer before realising and pulling away, blush deepening. Johnny grinned a little wider.
"Where's Hope's mom?" He asked, "We were supposed to have a playdate for the kids this weekend but I haven't heard from her."
"Oh." (Y/N)'s eyes went a little wide, "Well my sister is on a business trip and she's not back till next week. I'm taking care of Hope till then." She shrugged.
"So Hope can't come this Saturday to play?" Yoonjae's voice made her look down, not realising that he was there. He looked up at her with disappointed eyes, clutching on his dad's trousers harder.
"I mean, I could always bring her." She told the boy, who's eyes lit up.
"Let's not bother Miss (Y/L/N) like this, Jae." Johnny reached down to take the boys hands in his.
"It's not a bother!" She said immediately. "I'm working on a book right now so I'm always home anyway. In fact, why don't you bring Yoonjae over to mine so he can meet Cleo, my Lizard." She smiled at Yoonjae.
He squeezed Johnny's hand immediately, a silent and excited plea.
"I don't want to bother you." Johnny said sheepishly.
"No bother at all. Poor Hope has to play by herself all day when I get busy. You'll be doing us a favour by bringing him along."
"Can we go, Dada?" He tugged at Johnny's arm, and looking down at his child's eager face made Johnny give in. The moment he nodded at him, Yoonjae grinned.
"I'm going to go look for Hope and tell her." He told his father, walking away towards the playing group of kids.
"Thank you for doing this." Johnny told (Y/N) once they were by themselves. "He's been a little low recently because he can't see his mother anymore." Johnny paused, realising that he was volunteering information that was otherwise coaxed from him.
"Oh," She looked down at the ground, "Are you recently divorced?"
"No." He said immediately, "I've been divorced for a while now. Yoonjae's mother just recently gave me full custody of him. He's too young to understand anything though. For him it just looks like his mom abandoned him. I'm hoping that he'd understand one day, at least." Johnny smiled to himself. He hoped he'd understand it too.
They both turned to the sound of their names being called, facing the sight of two toddlers trying their best to run to them.
"This is the happiest I've seen him in a while." Johnny hummed. "I really do appreciate that, Miss (Y/L/N)." He turned to her, catching her smile at what he assumed was her niece approaching.
"Don't worry about it please. It's just one date." She pursed a smile that she turned to aim at him.
"I should give you my number. We can coordinate later." He announced to her with purpose.
"Okay, Mr. Suh." She reached into her bag to take her phone out.
"Is Yoonjae really coming to play with us, (Y/N)?" Hope came and tugged on her coat, smiling when she gave her a nod in return. "You too, Mr. Johnny? She turned to him.
"If your aunt will have me, of course." He winked at Hope, earning a short giggle.
Hope tugged on (Y/N) coat as she wondered about something, "Mom said Mr. Johnny is so handsome that she wanted you to meet him." Hope turned to (Y/N) with innocent purpose. "Do you think he's handsome, (Y/N)?" She asked.
(Y/N) blushed at the extremely blunt question, making Johnny bite the inside of his cheekâ in anticipation for the answer he realised.
She turned to look at him, scanning his face with the same intent gaze as before. He felt his cheeks warm a little from the scrutiny. After a good look over, she looked back down. When her eyes met Hope's still expectant one, she let out a flustered laugh.
"He is." She nodded, now failing to look back up at him. "Your mom is, as always, right." Both of them giggled at what he assumed was an inside joke.
"Dada can we take Bugsy too?" Yoonjae asked about his favourite plushie, shuffling his feet in anticipation.
"Taking advantage of your old man's mood, are we now?" Johnny poked at Yoonjae's neck, making him giggle and squirm. "Okay, we can." He nodded, making both the kids clap eagerly.
Johnny watched the exchange with a warmer heart than he had in a long time. Looking up to give (Y/N) a smile that she returned with equal warmth.

nature can be very calming and the more time you spend in the city, you notice this
sometimes you find yourself driving off to random places to be away from everything in the city
especially somewhere like where you live, itâs so busy and you barely get a chance to hear yourself think
usually you would go to somewhere like the beach or a lake
but today you end up at a meadow you saw online
it was said to be really pretty, and you felt like you hadnât seen real flowers for quite a while
so on your weekend you take a drive down to the meadow youâd seen pictures of
and much to your surprise itâs exactly what you expected it to be!
thereâs dozens of flowers everywhere and it must go on for miles
so you turn your phone on do not disturb and just⌠walk through
admiring natureâs work as you do so
itâs not until youâve been walking for about ten minutes that you think about turning back
but someone whoâs about fifty metres from you catches your attention and honestly at first
youâre a little worried who it is
like, anyone could have been in the field with you and you panic at first
soon enough you realise that the boy is actually just doing the exact same thing as you
except heâs touching the flowers and seems to smile every time he finds one that is slightly withered

and youâre about to leave when you catch his attention because you step on some kind of dry leaf

and the two of you are just kind of staring at each other for a second until you awkwardly wave at him
and he gives this half wave back which makes you wonder if heâs from near to here

the boyâs name is taeil, he is from around here and he spends his days out here tending to the flowers
you donât ask him if he owns the land in fear of him kicking you off it
but you two are talking about the flowers and you notice how damn much he cares about the flowers around him
he literally knows every flowerâs name and he can tell you so much about them
so you just ask him the one question on your mind

and he gives you this confused look and asks you back âwhatâs a florist?â
he must be a country kid, he doesnât even have a phone
and even though he was a little shy when you first started talking, you canât stop talking to him the entire way back to the road
you definitely know heâs not from the city when he tells you that he doesnât even have a phone
which is a shame, you really wanted to talk to him some more
so instead, he asks you if youâll come back at the same time tomorrow and heâll meet you
which he does
and you end up meeting him at the same time almost every day for two weeks
which definitely does take you away from the city life you hated so much
and gives you a lot of time to spend with taeil and get to know him
well⌠you dont actually know him that well if youâre honest, he doesnât say much about him
his interests in flowers yes, but other than that you donât even know where he lives
not that youâre going to ask because that will be a little awkward
so instead you ask him if he wants to maybe get some food in the city some time
heâs shy again, avoiding your eye contact in order to umm and ahhh over the question youâve posed
and heâll only ask you âhow do I get there though?â
because he does like you and he likes spending time with you because no one has ever really understood his love for flowers
of course thereâs stuff heâs not telling you which he probably should
either way, you take him back to the city with you
and his eyes are so wide at everything around him youâd think heâd never been outside of the meadow before
âthatâs because I havenât been out of there before⌠itâs so bright hereâ
youâre not really sure if he likes the city all that much actuallyÂ
heâs looking around at all the buildings and everything but itâs more of a judgement
because he really has never seen anything like this in his life
his kind isnât immortal, all heâs ever seen is flowers and grass and technology is weird to him
which he does try to explain when youâre waiting to be served food
heâs touching all of the decorations around you and seems so lost by your phone
itâs so foreign to him, but he can see everyone around him using it and he wants to learn
but he really does try to tell you about his lifeÂ
that heâs always lived out in the meadow because he has to protect the whole area
and heâs had interactions with humans before so he knows not to just tell you out right what he is
that heâs a spirit of the land and is technically divine
he questions if you would even know about his kind because he doesnât know if people believe in it these days
so he just tells you the parts of his life that donât include it
and boy, does he enjoy spending time with you doing things other than talking about flowers
sure itâs fun, but as much as he hates technology for what itâs turned the world to now, itâs really cool to see all these screens
he knows what a picture is but he didnât know you could take one on your phone
he thinks the photo comes out pretty cool though and is even more impressed when youâre able to give him a copy
taeil feels like heâs done so much in that one night which he has to thank you for
he feels really bad that you show him where you live and he hasnât done the same
but your bed is really comfortable and he isnât afraid to say it to you
until he realises what heâs said and he kinda sits up and tries to deflect the statement
âitâs okay, you can stay here if you want itâs pretty late nowâ
to him an invitation like that would mean you care about him one way or another
and spirits like him are loved by many, so you can imagine that one would have asked him the same before
but with some many different connotationsÂ
he accepts your offer though because he wants to stay with you
really he doesnât want the night to end because heâs seen so much new stuff and it really blew his mind
so yeah, he stays at yours and he watches a movie with you which heâs so fascinated by
heâs never seen one before but itâs so cool to have the scenes acted out in front of him
he loves the city life more than he thought he would, itâs going to be a bit of hell to get him to go home
but he does, and he looks forward to seeing you in the same place the next day
heâll always ask you to meet him the next day and you always will
just up until he asks you to take him back to the city and he can buy a phone to text you on
how he got money, you have no idea. you still donât know if he has a job but hey, okay
from then on heâll call you and you wonât have to see him every single dayÂ
although, the two of you donât have a set relationship status and itâs kind of confusing
youâre surprised when taeil shows up to your door one day with a bunch of hand picked flowers for you
at first youâre worried as to how he managed to get here but then he gives you the flowers and starts talking
oh its more important than you thought, but youâre glad he came over and almost got lost on the buses to make it to you
âyouâve changed my perspectives on things in life, and I couldnât ask for a better person to have learnt all of this withâ
you can bet his confession is going to mean a hell of a lot because he wouldnât just give himself to anyone
taeil could have married a god or goddess if he wanted to!
but he picked you, and he pick you because of how much he genuinely loved you

THERE WAS ALWAYS AN ACHING FEELING IN YOUR HEART that you would be back here at your old high school again. The memories that you thought had been forgotten came back to you like a flood. Your heart was racing through time. The truth was you wanted to leave your high school years in the past because well there was always a pang of guilt that you carried. You never confess your feelings to the guy you loved. Recalling all the missed opportunities made your head hurt. You didnât even know if you were obvious about your feelings. Never telling him about how you felt always left a rotten taste in your mouth and there always the question of what if?
The last chance you could have told him was the day before graduation. You remember this day like it was just yesterday. It was the coldest day of the year and school was even canceled due to the heavy snowstorm. You and your best friend Kim Doyoung weâre sitting at your parents' pastry shop. You were sipping hot tea, eating warm pastries, and giggling to your heart's content. It was like if time could stop at this very moment, it would be perfect. Doyoung had flashed his bunny smile for what seemed like the thousandth time but you never got tired of that smile. Eating food and making your best friend happy was all you needed.
âSo after college what do you wanna do?â Doyoung asked so suddenly, bringing the coffee back to his lips.
You and Doyoung always asked each other questions like this even if he already knew your answer. There was a 99% chance you were going to help run your parentâs shop. Youâve always shared a passion for cooking and even worked part-time there as well. Not to mention, there was a mini-apartment that sat above the shop, which your parents sometimes used as a second home. You could live there instead of finding an expensive apartment.
âDoyoung, I told you... like a million times Iâm working here at the shop, Iâll probably get a degree in culinary⌠What about you?â You asked, stirring your tea. There was something about Doyoung that made you melt every time you saw him. Your legs felt like jelly, you couldnât even look him in the eye without feeling like staring into his eyes for hours. His smile sometimes felt like it was blinding you but you didnât mind.
âAh, Iâll probably become like a celebrity or something⌠or like the hot CEOs we see on tv.â Doyoung joked. A laugh could help but escape out of your mouth. Somehow it felt, if someone else were to tell this joke it wouldnât be as funny as Doyoung saying it. You didnât know what this feeling was but you kinda liked it.
For the rest of the day, you spent time laughing and eating with Doyoung. It was around night time and the snow seemed to have cleared from the snowstorm. You told your parents that you were walking Doyoung home since he had spent all day with you. The frosty night irritated your un-muffled ears but you didnât care. Doyoung must have seen how red your ears were becoming so he brought some earmuffs from a local store when you werenât looking.
âHere,â Doyoung says, gently bending down to bring the earmuffs to your cold ears. A blush creped onto your face, you didnât know if it was how close your faces were or the cold air was getting to you because suddenly you felt warm.
You felt Doyoungâs breath on your nose; you inhale the scent of mint. For some reason, Doyoung always smells minty, despite you and him both hating the smell, it somehow smelled good on him. His lips almost brushed against your nose as he finished adjusting the earmuffs. Once done, he smiled admiring the little snowflakes that fell from the sky. When his glove reached out to touch one, the snowflake melted right onto his glove.
âItâs beautiful.â You admired Doyoung and his interaction with the snowflake. In your eyes, anything Doyoung did was beautiful. As you reached the door of Doyoungâs house, Doyoung turned to you, wrapping you in a warm embrace like a present. His arms rested on your mid-back and your arms rested on his mid-back. It felt like youâd been hugging for hours but what seemed like hours only lasted seconds. Doyoung slowly let go his arms around, it was almost like he wanted to linger but maybe the cold was getting to you.
Just as he was turning to unlock the door. You called for him.
âDoyoung⌠thereâs something I have to tell you.â You stopped him in his tracks. A look of worry aroused on his face as he turned to meet your eyes.
âYeah whatâs up?â He asked. gloves digging into his pockets to keep warm.
You didnât even know what you were experiencing, was it love? Heartache? Or maybe this was all signs of frostbite. Whatever it was, you wanted Doyoung to linger for a little longer. You wanted him to hold you tighter and never let go.
âI⌠I⌠hope you have a good night.â You flashed him a smile. There was a linger of disappointment in Doyoungâs face that was frozen there, but then he smiled maybe hiding his feeling of disappointment.
He reached to hold your earmuffs over your ears. âHave a good night as well.â He smiled and you have sworn you heard him mumble the words âI love you.â But maybe the cold night air was getting to you. There were probably many other days similar to this, you were always on the verge of spilling your heart but you could never do it. There was always a fear of rejection. Years would go and you lost contact with Kim Doyoung until you received a letter.
ii. the art of fate
IF THE WRONG PERSON AT THE WRONG TIME WAS A PERSON IT WOULD BE YOU. Seeing how much your former classmates had grown up was a shock. It felt like a slap to the face; everyone had something important to share. Whatever it was them being a CEO, model, or celebrity, or even a famous actor or living the married life. You felt like the only one who hadnât had much change in your life. After high school, you went to college and did actually what you said you wanted to do. You got a bachelor's degree in culinary arts and continued running your parentâs pastry shop after they retired.
Although it felt exciting listening to what your former classmates were up to, you couldnât help but feel bored. More yawns were escaping out of your mouth than words. Just like that night before your graduation, there was a snowstorm before you arrived which caused people to cancel or come late due to traffic. Everyone was dressed in warm winter attire; the area was filled with people, old classmates, retired teachers, and staff. You didnât spot your former best friend Doyoung anywhere; maybe he didnât come to events like this. High school can be a pretty awkward time for everyone and maybe he didnât want to relive those memories. Until you heard a crowd screaming and you spotted Doyoung. Women were gushing over how gorgeous Doyoung had become (of course you already knew this). Men were jealous of how successful Doyoung had become.
You read somewhere that Doyoung became a hotel owner and later branched out a chain of his luxury hotels. When you read it you found it hard to believe but now seeing him in flesh, it all made sense. Still, a blush couldnât help appear on your face and an old feeling rose again. Nonetheless, Doyoung paid the crowd no attention, his eyes searched for you when he found you; the brightest smile appeared on his face. He glided through the floor to get you, ignoring the round of people following him.
When he got closer, he secured an arm around you and whispered âplay along.â A look of shock came across your face. Your mind could not process what was going on.
âLadies and gentlemen, I know you have questions but Iâd like to spend time with my girlfriend, I havenât seen you in ages since Iâve been busy with work⌠so please respect my privacy. Doyoung tamed the crowd. His grip around the waist tightened and you leaned into him to make it more believable. Slowly the crowd dispersed into former cliques and such. Doyoung turned to you and removed his arm around your waist.
âThank you, I couldnât get off my back and I only came to see this event to see you.â He smiled, his arms wrapped around you in a warm embrace.
âI missed you.â He says holding you tighter. You felt your heart flutter. You felt like you could barely stand but you wrapped your arms around Doyoung for support.
âI missed you too, I hear you own a chain of hotels.â You and Doyoung got out of your embrace, a bittersweet feeling still lingering.
âYes, but work bores me, I feel like Iâve accomplished everything I wanted at a young age.â Doyoung sighs. You figured thatâs the downfalls of a rich lifestyle.
âWell you know youâre always welcome at the pastry shop.â You gave Doyoung a reassuring smile.
As the night continued you and Doyoung reconnected, as well as reconnected with old friends. There were lots of drinking, partying, and remembering the good times and bad times of high school. The reunion began to wind down and many people began to go home as the hours got later. Doyoung offered to walk you home later that night.
iii. winter heat
THE UNIVERSE WAS SENDING YOU A SIGN THAT NIGHT. This time Doyoung was walking you home in the cold like years prior, youâd forgotten your earmuffs. Doyoung reached for your arm to stop walking. You turned to him wondering why you stopped thatâs when it hit you.
Doyoung reached into his jacket pocket for an extra pair of earmuffs. Once he found them, he came closer to the face, slightly bending to put the earmuffs on your ears. Doyoung was always taller than you and often had to bend his knees to reach your height. His lips brushed against your nose, making sure the earmuffs were straight. Your heart was pounding; it felt like it would pound out of your chest. He pulled away slowly admiring the look on your face. His eyes slowly glanced at your lips. His tongue dashed across his lips as if he were imagining himself kissing you. Something was off this time.
Although walking home with Doyoung in the snow brought a wave of nostalgia, you couldnât help but feel this time would be different. You both were older and more mature the last time you saw each other. You were always pretty sure that Doyoung had no idea about your feelings for him. As your walk continued, you couldnât help but notice that Doyoung became bolder and bolder. He reached out to hold your hand, then his arm rested around your shoulder, then to your lower back. If this were to continue you felt you explode into a million pieces.
What seemed the longest walk in history, you finally arrived at your pastry shop. Just as you were twisting the doorknob to open it, you felt Doyoung grab your hand. You turn to be greeted with a look of nervousness on his face. In all the years you've known Doyoung, you have never seen this look before.
âThereâs something I want to do.â He says. You were curious as to what he wanted to do in this freezing weather. You felt your cheeks heat up and your heart pound when Doyoung, brought his face closer to yours. Once again, he's so close, you could smell the mint. His eyes fell upon your lips and you felt your eyes closing prepping for the moment you had been waiting for.
Until you felt his hands remove the earmuffs from your ears. It was growing colder and youâd figure Doyoung was probably going to use the earmuffs for double protection of the cold. This time there was a look of pure disappointment on your face. Youâd figure this time would be different but alas it wasnât. All you could feel was the tears stinging your cheeks like hundreds of bees stinging your face.
iv. rejection is a form of mint
REJECTION CAME IN MANY DIFFERENT FORMS in your case it came in a form of strawberry cake. After that night with Doyoung, you spent every lasting second baking cakes. In a way, this rejection inspired you to bake. Bake until youâve run out of ingredients. Although business was slow today, there were a few customers whoâd come in to look at the cakes.
You heard the bell ring, as you turned to greet the customers, you smelled the scent of mint. You knew exactly who it was. Kim Doyoung, you donât what he came to your shop for but whatever it was it couldnât be good.
âHello, can we talk?â Doyoung says. You couldnât bare to face him, it felt like another missed opportunity but maybe you would just face the fact that maybe mint was a form of rejection. The smell brought an iterating headache. But you didnât want to turn on your best friend.
âFine.â You say. Bringing out a slice of strawberry cake. After all, cooking is a love language. You sat down at a table. Doyoung sat across from you. A silence waved across the both of you. For the first, you didnât know what to say or how to start the conversation. The best thing you could do was just come out and say how you feel.
âDoyoung, I like you.â You let each word slowly appear out your mouth, making sure Doyoung understood and heard everything that you were saying.
A look of shock came across his face. He almost dropped his fork. It was like he saw a ghost, in this case, the ghost of love. Then he smiled and reached out for your hand.â
âI like you too, I wanted to tell you last night but I couldnât get the right words out.â He lightly squeezed your hand never taking his eyes off you.
You froze, you couldnât believe what he just heard. You both had feelings for each other. You always thought your feelings were one-sided but this entire time, it was equal on both sides.
You both smiled at one another, blushes appearing on your faces. Love really can come from the smell of mint, nostalgia, and strawberry cake. Doyoung reached to cup your cheek, you leaned into his touch. He brought his face closer and you brought your face closer.
You were so close, your lips could touch. Doyoung reached for a napkin, to wipe the frosting off your face. He chuckled. Once again, Doyoung played with your emotions but didnât care because a kiss will come when itâs ready to.
