Hello!
I am blowing the dust off of this account! I guess I’ll be backfilling the uhhhhhhh four years of art I did since leaving Tumblr, and I’ll start with the worst thing I have ever drawn, to properly honor the spirit of this place.

A Trick of the Light — Jenna Kass
Salt to the Sea
Graphite on bristol, 5″x6″
by Jenna Kass
Done for the Month of Fear 2018 challenge, “Tears”.
-
The last few months have been so much, and I've said very little. With everything happening in the spheres of race and gender and abuse at every level of society, what can my tears do but add more salt to the sea?
She Still Loves the Dragon
Graphite on bristol, 6″x11″
by Jenna Kass
Done for the Month of Love 2018 challenge, “White”. Inspired by the eponymous short story by Elizabeth Bear.
-
“Why did you set me on fire?” the knight cried, burning.
And of course there is no easy answer.
You burned her because fire is what you are.
You burned her because your gifts come wreathed in flames, and your heart is an ember, and your breath is a star, and because you loved her and you wanted to give her everything you are.
The Kelpie

Loss and Longing
Graphite on bristol, 6.5″x10″
by Jenna Kass
Done for the Month of Fear 2017 challenge, “Hollow”.
Everything you touch turns empty. Your ribcage is no less empty then theirs, by now.
To No Avail
Graphite on bristol, 6.5″x9.5″
by Jenna Kass
Done for the Month of Fear 2017 challenge, “Paralyzed”.
For me, paralysis has never been the locked inability to act: instead, it’s always manifested as abortive actions done with all my might. I would perceive myself as falling behind my peers and throw myself blindly into some immediately self-destructive thing which set me back again and again. I worked savagely hard in all the wrong directions and never worked on fixing the things that were broken. I slammed into the ground over and over.
Hi there! Is there a way/place where I can buy a print of Steadfast? I absolutely love it!
Hello! I unfortunately do not have a print of Steadfast, but if you email me at [email protected] I will fo sho let you know if I wind up doing a run of them!
Cyclone Person
Graphite on bristol, 6″x10″
by Jenna Kass
Done for the Month of Fear 2017 challenge, “Howl”.
All over the world, natural disasters have left paths of destruction, and the first thing I thought of with howl was the wind.
Cyclone Person is a storm spirit of the Shawnee and Lenape tribes. While some tribes identified Cyclone Person as variously male or female, it is possible that they were originally not anthropomorphized at all, and was genderless. Cyclone Person was not malevolent, though; they would never intentionally harm a Shawnee, the tribe maintained.
Is this Cyclone Person in the heart of their domain, or a victim tossed up into the tornado’s embrace? The wind howls either way.
(Thank you to @sasharjones for advising me on drawing a non-normative body!)

The Drowned Pencil on bristol, 10″x6″ by Jenna Kass
Done for the last Month of Love 2017 challenge, “Light”.
The final in my illustration series for The Hazards of Love by The Decemberists.
The Hazards of Love 4 (The Drowned)
Tell me now, tell me this, A forest's son, a river's daughter, A willow on the willow wisp, our ghosts will wander all of the water.
So let's be married here today these rushing waves to bare our witness, And we will lie like river stones rolling only where it takes us.
