Jemma had always risen with the sun. Growing up in a trailer with barely enough room for the four people who occupied it, sleeping in had never been a luxury she could afford--not with a mother up at the crack of dawn and a brother who was quick to follow and a sister with whom she occupied the same bed with and who, frankly, snored. She’d quickly learned how to function on minimal and interrupted sleep, the steaming cup of coffee next to her a testament of such, sat on the bench of her usual six AM ferry to LA. It sat untouched, however, a stylus poised tightly in her grip, as her focus remained on the tablet in her lap. Or, so it seemed. “What’s the special occasion?” Though her gaze remained initially unwavering, pen swiping across the screen, the words were murmured to the person next to her, the moment of silence that followed them eventually prompting Jemma to lift her eyes to meet their own. She leaned in then, just slightly, as if to let them in on a secret. “It’s rare to see too many new faces on a ride this early.” She smiled though, body returning to it’s previous distance, eyes falling back to her tablet, and once again furrowing at the sight of the design there.
