You know I love to hear Julien speak English and this video of him announcing his Tokyo show in French and English does not disappoint. I feel like a lot of French people I’ve spoken with speak English super well (way, WAY better than I speak French--like, to an embarrassing degree) and with a surprisingly minimal accent, but Julien sounds VERY stereotypically French in the MOST adorable way: “ze May eighteen,” “I’m very ‘appy to see you,” etc.

I, a crazy person, did something that is truly fucking insane: I bought a ticket for Julien’s show in Montreal (which also necessitated buying plane tickets and booking a hotel and the whole nine, and the expen$e of all this is the thing about it that is most insane for me, a poor person) on June 10th (I looked at a list of dates on his twitter a few minutes ago and FLIPPED MY SHIT because he has the Montreal date listed there as the 11th but I am reassured by the fact that the Francofolies de Montréal website lists zero shows as being on June 11th, my ticket is for June 10th, and also Julien retweeted the show announcement that the Francofolies tweeted which gave the date as June 10th and yes I am an EXTREMELY ANXIOUS PERSON, as I have demonstrated here to you in this very lengthy parenthetical aside!!!).

I am trying not to hyperventilate and give in to the feeling of BUYER’S REMORSE about spending.........a fretfully LARGE number of dollar$$$ on this very short trip that I, a person who does not live anywhere near Montreal, will be taking at great personal expense to spend maybe an hour (?) watching my fave perform a show that will probably be a stripped-down version of the normal performance he puts on. And I will probably have to speak French to people, which I am.....NOT great at. And my flights are all bonkers (so many weird connecting flights and layovers and such) which is STRESSFUL and oh god i am making myself feel sick just typing all this out...

So here is what I am going to tell myself: This will be fun! It’s gonna be fine! It will be an adventure! It will not seem nutty to spend this much because the show’s gonna be fantastic! All the transportation involved will go smoothly enough that I should not worry about it!!! It’s fine that I am frivolously spending money on travel & entertainment! YOLO! Etc!!!

I’m excited (even though I am trying to tamp down my anxiety!)!!!!!!!!
