Sure, Ghislaine Maxwell very well may have had her hand in a lot of the sketchy behavior going on at the time and likely did in fact recruit underage girls to come back to Epstein’s various residences to provide him sensual massages that quickly turned into sexual abuse.  She may have even been involved in some of the actual abuse, or so it has been alleged. However, while she gets the highest level of attention now that Epstein is dead, she is still widely considered not much more than Epstein’s enabler, his Madam, and if she’s considered a co-conspirator, most do not see her possessing the same level of guilt as Epstein possesses.  That being said, it would seem that she is the main Focus of the Federal Authorities now that Epstein is dead, but is she really who the Feds should be focusing on?

There is actually someone that seems to have been involved with both the sex trafficking scheme as well as the systematic abuse of underage girls to the same extent that Epstein and who shares the same level of guilt as Epstein himself, but the Media doesn’t seem to think he deserves the same attention as Miss Maxwell for whatever reason.  While the Feds have indicated that they are now interested in pursuing charges against Epstein’s co-conspirators and enablers, they seem to have most of their focus on several female employees or friends of Epstein, primarily Ghislaine Maxwell, Epsteins ex-girlfriend turned Madam and Epstein’s right hand...woman as it relates to his actions in abusing hundreds of underage girls.  In additional to Miss Maxwell, several other female associates of Epstein seem to be listed in most news reports of who the Feds are most likely to go after now that Epstein’s dead.

While he has been named as a potential co-conspirator and has been labeled as someone in Epstein’s inside circle, Jean-Luc Brunel has really not gotten the amount of attention he deserves in this case, especially when compared to Miss Maxwell.  In fact, based on all the allegations set forth in the hundreds of news articles that have been written over the years, Brunel may actually be just as guilty as Epstein himself.  Furthermore, it even appears that Brunel’s unlawful behavior as it relates to the sexual abuse of underage girls, goes back much further than Epstein’s, as far back as the early 80s.

WHO IS JEAN-LUC BRUNEL?  Brunel is French-born modeling scout who has apparently been responsible for finding some of the most famous models in modern history.  He had run a modeling agency named Karin Modeling agency which he grew into an extremely successful modeling agency.  When he decided to expand his modeling business into the US, it is alleged that he did so with a generous loan from Epstein. In the process, he changed the name of his modeling agency to MC2.  Epstein has been quoted saying that the MC2 name referenced Einsteins famous equation and that the E in E=MC2 stands for Epstein.  In other words, Epstein was something akin to a silent partner in Brunel’s modeling agency.

It’s been alleged that Brunel would scout out modeling talent and Epstein would have them flown to the US on his private jets. Epstein would house them in several apartments that he owned down the street from his Manhatten Mansion, and Epstein would fund the process of getting the girl’s visas.  The girls themselves were ordered to do as Epstein wanted, essentially ending up as his own personal sex slaves.  He is alleged to have also sent them out to other wealthy people for sexual favors.  This particular operation, which seems to be definition sex trafficking, was as much the doing of Brunel as it was Epstein.  In fact, based on messages that were later seized by the Government, from Brunel to Epstein in code, discussed specific underage girls that Brunel had secured for Epstein’s personal use.

COMMENTARY: 

One of Epsteins accusers claims that Epstein once bragged about 2 12 year old French girls that he had obtained from their parents by paying the parents an unknown sum of money.  He claimed that they provided him their daughters for the purpose of Epstein taking them abroad and having sex with them.  He allegedly found it funny and/or interesting that money could literally buy him anything.  France is likely relying upon this particular accusation, at least in part, in commencing their most recent investigation.

France’s investigation also likely relies upon the well known friendship of Jean-Luc Brunel and Epstein.  Jean-Luc Brunel is a French modeling scout that has long been accused of sexually abusing girls, many of whom were underage.  In fact, Brunel’s unlawful behaviors in this regard likely go back much further than Epstein as Brunel has been accused of sexually abusing underage aspiring models as far back as the early 1980s.  Brunel seems to have a lot in common with Harvey Weinstein as he allegedly used his power in the Modeling industry to sleep with aspiring models, promising them modeling gigs so long as they complied and had sex with him but sabotaging their careers should they have rejected him.

Between the tale of the 12 year old French Girls that Epstein bought from their parents and his close relationship with Brunel, France apparently feels that its citizens have been affected by Epstein’s various unlawful acts to such an extent that France feels the need to commence their own investigation, at least to ensure that French victims have sufficient opportunity to seek justice and potentially make claims against Epstein’s estate.

Thus far, numerous French citizens, many of them prior models that were associated with Jean-Luc Brunel, have come forward with accusations of sexual abuse against Epstein.  This number is likely to increase.

Jean-Luc Brunel, who was seen as recently as the past few weeks allegedly in Brazil scouting for modeling talent, seems to be potentially as guilty as Epstein was as it relates to the Sex Trafficking Scheme and the sexual abuse of underage girls.   Prosecutors in the US should be aiming their focus at him more so than Ghislaine Maxwell, but we’ll discuss that in another post.

Epstein also owned several apartments in France and in fact was returning from France just this July, on his private jet, when he was arrested at an airport in NJ.  It was this arrest that would lead to his incarceration in Manhattan where he would later die via suicide.

COMMENTARY:  The conspiracy theories were misguided as they related to how Epstein died.  It was fairly clear what had transpired from the original suicide attempt on July 23rd through to his actual death in August. 

Epstein had originally shared a cell with ex-cop Nicholas Tartaglione who is awaiting trial in a death penalty case when Epstein originally attempted suicide on July 23rd. He was unsuccessful in that attempt and the jail, suspecting that Epstein had possibly attempted to commit suicide, put him on suicide watch.

Epstein did not, however, admit to having attempted suicide.  Instead, he told guards that he was roughed up by his cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione.  He was able to rely upon this lie in getting the jail to only leave him on suicide watch for a short while.  It is also believed that this lie was also relied upon in Epstein’s request to either have a cell to himself or to change cellmates (though it’s unclear how he would have been able to foresee that a change in cellmates would result in a time period of not having a cellmate at all).

Once Epstein secured himself a cell to his own and not under the constant surveillance of suicide watch, he was ready to go forward with his suicide.  Based on statements from his lawyers and others familiar with Epstein’s mood the day(s) prior to his death, he appeared to have an almost overly positive outlook and attitude.  This was likely due to both Epstein attempting to appear non-suicidal such as to ensure he stayed off suicide watch but also possibly because he had finally come to accept that he would be committing suicide and, if nothing else, would not have to deal with being jailed for what could have been up to 45 years should he be able to live that long. Having the burden of his case and jail and any other stressors lifted off his shoulders, he may have had a short period of sunshine in his dark world.

It has already been reported that the guards were overworked the night that Epstein died and were not checking on him every 30 minutes as was required by jail procedures.  They allegedly falsified records indicating that they, in fact, did check on him every 30 minutes but it was said that the cameras in the hallways outside of the cells were reviewed and it was established that Epstein had in fact not been checked on by the guards for as much as several hours.  It has since been reported that the guards had possibly slept through their required rounds, leaving Epstein alone in his cell unmonitored for several hours.  This provided Epstein ample opportunity to try to kill himself again, which he then did.

In reports detailing conversations with Epstein’s prior cellmate’s attorneys, the reality of the situation was that Epstein and Nicholas Tartaglione got along just fine.  Epstein made up the story about having been roughed up to avoid being stuck on suicide watch and so that he would not have any increased attention.  It has recently been reported that  Nicholas Tartaglione, who was only moved to a cell nearby to Epsteins, was in a position to witness everything that occurred during Epstein’s actual death.  It appears, however, that he plans to use his knowledge as leverage in possibly being transferred to a better-conditioned jail or some other benefit in exchange for whatever information he has regarding the circumstances of Epstein’s death.

It’s really as simple as that.  Epstein was able to hang himself using a bedsheet that was tied to the top bunk in his cell.  It is believed that he either leaped off the top bunk or leaned forward from a kneeling position to ultimately hang himself.  Since the autopsy showed that he had some broken bones around his neck, he likely more forcibly flung himself from the top bunk.  He was  66 years old so, though those particular bones are more often broken during strangulation than hanging, they do sometimes break during suicidal hanging, more so in older people.  Since Epstein likely put some more force into his attempt the second go-around so as not to repeat what happened on his first attempt, that would also explain the broken bones as well.

COMMENTARY:  So we are learning more about Epstein’s stay in Florida State Jail back in 2008 pursuant to the plea agreement he had entered into back then (the one that is being rendered invalid as of now hence the Federal Government again pursuing him and his accomplices, something the plea agreement forbid).  What is interesting about this is how he was not treated like a prisoner at all.  Now, we can make the generic statement that it’s because of his wealth that he was treated in such a way, but that actually doesn’t seem to explain much of anything.

Here, you’ve got certain people making actual decisions on the treatment of Epstein in Florida jail.  There is a person in power deciding that they are going to grant his work release even though they are aware that it’s mainly bullshit and includes mostly information made up for the very purpose of getting a work-release granted.  You have someone making the decision to allow Epstein to leave his cell door unlocked, to visit his home during his work release, to increase his work release from 6 days per week to 7 and from 12 hours to 16, and during this entire time, it is evident that most people that are involved in making these decisions are more than aware that all these perks and privileges being given Epstein are unprecedented.  They nonetheless allow them anyways.

Now, yes, Epstein was very wealthy.  He also ended up paying upwards of $128k to pay for the salaries of the Sheriffs that tagged along with him in suits on his work release everyday and who acted as security.  But, you really have to ask yourself, what is truly the underlying reason that someone is deciding to actually provide Epstein these privileges.  Being wealthy in of itself doesn’t do anything for the Jail or it’s operators or anyone involved in this matter so the sole fact that Epstein is wealthy doesn’t seem to get us any closer to answering why he was given these privileges.  Unless he was actually paying money to these people in exchange for these privileges, I don’t see them benefiting at all by giving him these privileges.  Considering the fact that they were quite aware that what they were allowing him to do during his jail stint was going to raise red flags all over the place and that someone was likely to review it all at some point and raise questions, you would think that there would have to be a fairly compelling reason for them agreeing to provide him these privileges and that just the fact that he was wealthy in of itself or that he held a position of power in the community, or any other generic fact of life would not be enough to convince those in charge to grant Epstein these privileges.

Now, we can look to Epstein’s lawyers and try to think of what they might have used as leverage to persuade the jail to provide these privileges, but I am at a loss of what they would be able to provide anyone other than straight up cash payments and bribes to those in charge to persuade them to grant these privileges to Epstein.  What else could it have been?  There must have been actual paid bribes of those in charge of making these very decisions for these decision makers to actually go through with providing these privileges to Epstein as it doesn’t seem to make any sense why anyone would otherwise give Epstein these privileges when the decision to do so would no doubt raise red flags all over the place and would then be reviewed by others and would possibly lead to problems that you would think only a large amount of money would be worth having to deal with.

While this is a story that I believe will continue unraveling for a very very long time, likely continuing to provide us with the most entertaining subject matter humanely possible, it certainly has already provided us with a little bit of everything.

It would be an understatement to say that the Jeffrey Epstein matter would make for a great, action-packed, drama-filled, comedic, thrilling, mysterious, Exploitation horror story with touches of James Bond, Ted Bundy, Wolf of Wall Street, and so on and so forth...but this is better than fiction, this is real life.
