STRIP GAME with 🌸 Order Of Darkness Kung Lao 🌸 round 2

So we all know that Kung Lao has a silly lil man-ponytail, but it has somehow taken me two full months and some brightened-up screencaps to catch that Liu Kang also has a bit of the same red cord tied into his hair???  And unlike Lao’s keeping his hair out of his face, Liu’s doesn’t serve any practical purpose, which seems odd for someone so otherwise sparsely decorated (his only other accessory is his mala beads, which do have a benefit beyond aesthetics).  It doesn’t look like something he would do himself without a reason to, but it sure does look like a silly little thing that someone who loves him would do. So uhhh new headkanon- at one point when Liu Kang had to leave to look for another kombatant alone, Kung Lao cut a piece of the cord he ties his own hair with and wrapped it around a little braid in Liu Kang’s.  When Liu Kang asked him why, he answered that anytime Liu looked in the mirror and saw it, or reached up and touched it, it would be a little piece of Kung Lao that would be with him wherever he was. Liu teasingly called him a sap (which Lao didn’t deny), but he’s worn it ever since.
