Their band name is Wallob. Clueless Wallob. Clueless Wallob. Taken from the lyrics of an obscure 80s Swedish pop-rock song by a little known Stockholm unit called “Kasvot Vaxt.”

No one in Clueless Wallob is of Swedish descent, but several of the members were taken with the music of Kasvot from early on. “I remember someone in high school art class gave me a cassette of I-Rokk and I was blown away. I had never heard anything like it,” says guitarist Jed Luckless. “The guy had tacked on a couple Lynyrd Skynrd tunes at the end to fill up the tape. For a long time I thought “Freebird” was a Vaxt tune and I was amazed that they could replicate an American southern accent so well.”

Others in the band had never heard of Kasvot Vaxt prior to joining Clueless. “When Jed approached me, I had no idea what he was talking about,” recalls bassist Kenny Kaufman. “I knew he spoke a little French, but didn’t know about the Swedish. I had just quit another act and was down to only 11 bands, so he was in luck.”

Musically speaking, some people do actually call them clueless. While the core Kasvot material the band plays is fairly straightforward, they have a lot of fun with (including their attempts to replicate the Turtle dance) and they do branch out into covering acts like Phish. But it is never anything complex or orchestrated. Instead, listeners are treated to classics like “Chalkdust Torture,” “Back On The Train,” and “Gumbo.”  Keyboard player Mark Mattson describes it as “kind of fun, but not that challenging.”

What Clueless Wallob does bring to the table is a unique sound and that rare ability to channel musical energy into compelling improvisational jams. Drummer Pete Martine is the backbone of the unit and holds down the extended segues without fail while the combination of Kaufman and Luckless always results in some magical moments.

The band is based in NY and they play around the area as well as webcasting shows online. It might be hard to find them, but if you ever have a chance to check out “Clueless Wallob” I recommend it. They always provide a phun evening celebrating some obscure music a small few of us love an awful lot!

Those of you who follow Jed Luckless online know that the Jed Luckless Band has been in the works for sometime, and you've watched it grow from a duo with the addition of Stram to a full blown original jam band when Ken and Mark joined up.

The Phish Bowl Set List Box Pool Phish Bowl II continues the tradition of the Set List Box Pool! We’re expanding upon last year’s pool with more boxes and bigger prizes! 2011 is here and with it the promise of many exciting things at Jedtainment! But before we get into that, let’s recap the fantastic 2010 we had:

We streamed over 50 shows live online at Darkstar in Secondlife and on JedTV. During those shows we made a ton of new friends in-world and out on twitter, facebook and elsewhere.

We had three major ticket giveaways, for Furthur at MCU park and MSG and for Phish at Jones Beach (where we met more great peeps and had a concert in the lot!)

We had two “second annual” events: our 2010 Halloween Space Jam and the Holiday Revue 2010. During the Holiday show we raised $600 for charity (more than double what we raised in 2009!)

And last but certainly not least, we released our first CD, “All At Once” from Jed Luckless (now available on jedluckless.com, digstation.com, cdbaby.com and other outlets).

None of this would have been possible without the amazing support of our fans! We feel so lucky to be a part of this community. To all our fans, friends and everyone who made 2010 a great year for Jedtainment, we say thank you! So what’s ahead in 2011 you ask? Just have a look:

Our second annual Phish Bowl is right around the corner (on Feb. 5th!). Join us for this festive celebration of Phish and Football. Two sets of Phish tunes with Jed, compete with setlist box pool and Phish Bowl trophy presentation for best Phish show of 2010.

Stramland Studios goes live! Some of you know we had some studio issues late last year. Well, Stram to the rescue…we’ve outfitted his basement as our rehearsal and broadcast studio and will begin playing shows from there in January. And we specifically set it up to allow for four players because…

2011 will bring the launch of the Jed Luckless Band! We’ve been looking for the perfect complement of musicians to support Jed’s CD on tour this year and we’ve found some fantastic ones. Stay tuned to hear more from Jed, Stram, Colorful K and a hopefully soon to be named key player. Expect to live shows starting this spring, online and at local venues.

More CDs! Jed is already back at work on the next batch of originals. But we know how rapidly he works *grin*. So in the meantime, we’re planning two live CD releases in 2011, including a compilation of fan picked Jed intro jams!

On December 23rd, 2009 we held our second annual Holiday Revue at Hundred Year Hall on Darkstar. It was a fantastic evening filled with fun holiday tunes, dancing, cheer and lots of goodwill.

This year’s show was a benefit for The Box Project, a charity organization that helps fight poverty in America by matching donors with families in need. Due to the amazing kindness and generosity of the Jed Heads and others, we raised $600 USD this year. That’s double what we raised in 2009!

The donation was presented to the Box Project with the following note:

We represent a community of individuals drawn together around a common interest in music, love and a culture of peace and understanding. Each year, our organization Jedtainment holds a holiday benefit concert to raise money for a worthy cause. That most wonderful time of the year is here, and with it the second annual Jed Luckless Holiday Revue! Last year’s holiday revue was held at Hundred Year Hall on Darkstar in Secondlife. Advance tickets were sold and all proceeds went to benefit the fight against hunger in America. Attendance was at full capacity the night of the show and Jed performed two fantastic sets of holiday favorites, jammed out as you’d expect from Jammin Jed. The show raised more than $300 for charity.

This year we hope to surpass that amount at the Jed Luckless Holiday Revue 2010!

The event will once again be held at Hundred Year Hall, on December 22nd at 9:30pm EST (6:30pm SLT), and will be simulcast on JedTV. All ticket proceeds from this year’s concert will benefit The Box Project and will help fight poverty in America. Jedtainment would like to extend a sincere thank you to veterans everywhere for their service and sacrifice, without which we would not have the freedom to rock like we do :) And in honor of Veteran's Day, we're releasing another cut from the forthcoming Jed Luckless CD "All At Once." Now that Halloween has come and gone, and the phanatacism over fall tour, Atlantic City and musical costumes has ended, it’s time to turn our attention to the other love in our lives: Furthur!

Furthur is coming to Madison Square Garden in NYC on November 20th and 21st and as you’d expect, Jedtainment is giving away tickets! But we’re upping the ante…this time around we’ve got 6 tickets to share with y’all!

Happy Halloween folks! It's that time of year when we get to hide our identies and eat lots of candy...whoo hoo! It's one of Jedtainment's favorite holidays and we're celebrating it in a few different ways... For those of you who were hanging with us a year ago, you'll remember our off-the-hook Halloween Extravaganja at Alligator Beach on Darkstar in Secondlife. Jed was decked out in imperial naval garb, and played two sets of thematic Grateful Dead songs. Everyone was costumed in pirate related attire, including our host who came as a mermaid! One of the highlights of the show was Jed narrating the ghost story of "Black Peter" and the curse on Alligator Beach.

  This was before the advent of JedTV so there is unfortunately no video of the show. But we do have audio! So to get you amped for this year's party, we're posting Jammin' Jed's Halloween Extravanganja 2009 on the Archive for your pre-Halloween listening pleasure. Speaking of Halloween listening pleasure, there's been a lot of clamor to release Jed's classic "The Pumpkin Song" and we shall wait no longer to oblige. "The Pumpkin Song" was written and recorded by Jed one Halloween long, long ago (1998 to be exact). A lark of a tune, inspired by a late 90's PC screensaver, it went on to become a fan favorite of the day. Long since collecting dust in the bargain bins, we have rescued "The Pumpkin Song" and brought it back to be shared with all of you! Enjoy!

The eargerly anticipated Phish ticket giveaway event "Jammin' Jed Goes Phishin'" took place this past Saturday in Secondlife and on JedTV. And between Phish MSG tickets going onsale in the AM, Jed's all-Phish show and ticket giveaway in the evening, and the rebroadcast of the Phish ACL set in the PM, it was quite a day for phans.

Despite initial technical problems that unfortunately caused many patrons of the Central Park Summerstage in Secondlife to wander off toward the Met, the sound crew was able to rectify everything for the second set. Although this led to a rather inconsistent beginning, Jed (and his special guest) managed to tap back into the energies and rock the crowd with some phantastic choices.

Alone on stage at first, Jed opened with a traditional improv jam, into what would've been a pretty enjoyable "Chalkdust Torture" if not for the sound issues. The issues were mostly worked out during the second tune (an obviously distracted version of "Weigh"). Then, as if needing the shot of musical adrenaline, Jed brought his special guest onstage a song early.

   Eric Stramiello, known in Jed Head circles as simply "Stram," made his second appearance at a Jed show, and it's apparent the boys have been working on the act. The duo opened with "Twist" (in honor of Stram's SL avatar name), reaching a nice build up before heading into a groovetastic "Ghost."

Jed stopped the momentum at this point, but for a good cause. Saturday would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday and as such, Jed and Stram launched into a fitting tribute with "Instant Karma," before closing out set I with a fun "Nothing."

Set II brought Stram back onstage with Jed, and the duo opened with an energetic "Down With Disease" (Jed trying his best to replicate the phased opening), followed by a serene "Dirt" (Jed nailed the whistling). Picking the pace back up, Stram launched into "My Sweet One" which started out (unintentionally) acapella and went on to be one of the rockin' jams of the night.

The big ticket giveway occured next, and how nice to actually have a drummer onstage to provide a drum roll! Two tickets to the October 30th Phish show in Atlantic City were awarded to @brendanbroin.

Stram sat in for the rest of the set, while Jed belted out new fave "Alaska" and offered up a mellow "Wading In The Velvet Sea." Jed closed out the night with a solo rendition of "Rocky Top."

Depsite a perilous start, the show ended up being extremely high energy and phun! We're already looking forward to Jedtainment's Furthur MSG ticket giveaway coming up in November!

  "The Freeze" Premieres on "This Week on Lot"

Listeners to this week's episode of the "This Week on Lot" podcast were treated to the premiere of the latest Jed Luckless studio cut, entitled "The Freeze." The second cut released from the forthcoming album "All At Once," the song conjures imagery of seasons passing by and our tendency to become stagnated at certain points in our lives.

The full album continues to be mixed. Our graphic artist is now officially MIA. So needless to say, we're behind schedule (again). But we're still hoping to get this puppy wrapped up and out over the next month! Stay tuned...

For jam band fans who revel in attending live shows and fests, "This Week On Lot" is a staple for information on the scene as well as a weekly place to gather with friends to share stories and have a general good time.

This week promises to be extra fun, as the Jed Heads descend on TWOL studios for Jed's appearance on the 9/21 show (episode #43)!

Jed is thrilled to have been invited as a guest on the program, where he and the hosts will discuss various lot related topics and talk about Jed's shows and music. As an added bonus, Jed is bringing the the new studio cut "The Freeze" with him and it will be premiered at the tail end of the program.

Following on the heels of playing some great summer fests in Vermont, New York and Pennsylvania, Grateful Dead tribute band Star '69 (featuring Jed Luckless on rhythm guitar) will be wrapping up their summer tour with four key dates in and around New York City, including the historic Bohemian Beer Hall & Gardens in Astoria, Queens, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

The schedule also includes a very special 9-11 event, which has become an annual tradition for the band members. This year's event will include live music and DJ's and will occur in Brooklyn, NY. More details to follow.
