I installed Remembering the Bicentennial today and celebrated with a patriotic donut (which was generously brought in by the organizer of last weekend's event as they went about cleaning up).
First Lady Betty Ford Displaying Her βBloomerβ Flag, 6/24/1975
This flag, made for the First Ladyβs car, features a pair of bloomers as a play on Mrs. Fordβs maiden name, Bloomer. The letters βE.R.A.β indicate Mrs. Fordβs strong support for the Equal Rights Amendment.

Image Description: Made of blue satin and trimmed in white lace with blue and red stars, the flag features a pair of red and white bloomers in the center as a play on Mrs. Fordβs maiden name, Bloomer. White text above the bloomers reads, βDonβt Tread on Me.β The letters βE.R.A.β below stand for the Equal Rights Amendment, an indication of Mrs. Fordβs strong support for the proposed amendment that would have given women equality under law through the United States Constitution.
