Living As A Autism Mom

Hey all!! Super tired today!!! My 10 year old is on steroids for his colitis because the biologic he was on wasn’t working. He will get infusions (new meds) starting next week. The steroids give him insomnia. If he doesn’t sleep I cannot, because he’s also diabetic and he will get up and just eat.

On a good note I got to get my 30 min work out in last night, which was really hard to complete with the boys around but I did it! I am down 6lbs.. woohoo!!! 😂😂 that’s great for me just 20 more to go... lol

To be honest this is something I am struggling with now. Yes I have family, my husband has family. However not everyone is equipped or able to handle children with special needs and when it comes down to it they say oh yeah we will help but really won’t. This is something that really pulls at my heart. Of coarse there is assisted living and stuff like that but that scares me.

For 15 years I worked as a cashier and a lot of assisted living home would come in and shop with the adults with disabilities. Some treat them great and some treat them like dirt. So it’s very scary. I know I have time my boys are 10,8,6. But time goes by fast.

This topic literally sends me into a panic attack. We know no one will love our kids like us. I try to take care of my self now, before not so much everything was about the kids or my husband. But I want to be around for them.

I decided it was time for me to get healthy and feel good. Especially during this quarantine. So I bought a indoor bike and watching YouTube work outs. I usually work out when the kids are in bed. I know once the kids are in bed you don’t want to do anything! I get it but we as parents need to do it for us!! I also started to eat better, which can be really hard when you have kids not on the spectrum but with kids on the spectrum that need 100% monitoring all day I often forget to eat or just grab what I can. I normally realize I didn’t eat when I’m super dizzy.

I decided to start Herbalife and set my alarm for times I should eat. A also try to get up early and actually get home schooling ready, cook dinner (so there is no excuse I can’t eat or my husband) and get the kids breakfast ready. I’m not gonna lie it’s hard and I’m exhausted. My kids don’t go to sleep sometimes until after 1am. But I do it! We can do it!!

I know it’s super hard. I have three boys on the spectrum. My oldest has chronic pancreatitis, diabetes, chronic gastritis, and ulcerative colitis.

I know what it’s like to want to do for your self and can’t. I started my Herbalife journey on may 14 2020. So I just want to share how that goes with juggling everything else.
