“Oh yeah?” Tobias asked, raising a brow. Jordi so rarely talked about his family outside of his sisters, “Well that’s pretty cool. How often do you tell her that? Don’t think people like getting compared to their parents that much,” He tried to joke.

“Oh I don’t. I’m not sure if Ciara would like that very much. Then again, I never really had the relationship with my mother like Ciara did.”

“Oh no, it wouldn’t be that good. I’m not that smart.”

“Sure you are! You’re definitely smarter than me.”

“So they’d still be usable?” Lucinda questioned, “I won’t get any more off the trees,” She promised, “Do you think that would be a good one?” Lucinda then asked, pointing to a selection of woods by the side. 

“Yeah, but they’re still living,” Jordi replied. “So, while usable, it’s not the best for the tree.”

“Nobody and if you find me someone that does, that’s the day I actually fight someone,” April teased, though they both knew she would never, “I should have tried to make s’more cupcakes. They would have been fun to bring. Do you think we actually have to bring s’more supplies or will they already be there? We should probably bring some extra for ourselves anyway I suppose. Just in case.”

“I’m sure we can bring some anyway,” Jordi replied. “There’s no harm in having extras.”

“They’d be mad not too, I’m pretty sure we’ve picked the finest sticks in this entire forest.” Lucinda joked before stopping, “Oh- I’ve gotten a few from the tree, is that bad?” 

“It’s just you’re basically picking off live branches, the ones that fall are dead, but they’ll still burn.”

“Well you were pretty quick to hide it when I asked about it, Jordi,” April said in a teasing tone. She didn’t really care that much about the order if he wanted to keep it a secret that was fine but part of her was curious. Were they from him? Did he have a crush? The idea made her feel a certain way but she couldn’t pinpoint it. It wasn’t a positive feeling though. She smiled, “We should probably get some supplies first though right? What do you normally bring to a campfire? Are we meant to bring something?” She laughed a little sheepishly as she started to ramble, “Also I’m starving. Should we get food?”

“Definitely s’mores,” Jordi replied. “Who can say no to s’mores?”

“Exactly. You know I can’t handle losing.”

“I guess this time we can be on the same time. That way you can win with me.”

“I can’t imagine they’d need much more than this,” Lucinda agreed, shuffling her own pile in her arms so she didn’t drop any. “Maybe we should grab some more sticks? Anything helps, right?” 

Jordi nodded. “Yeah, definitely,” he replied. “I’ll be so sad if they don’t use our sticks. Try to find the ones on the ground, don’t pull them off the trees or anything.”

“Should we go now?” April asked with a bright smile, “Or do you need to finish that secret order first?”

“It’s not secret,” Jordi replied with a light laugh. “But, yeah, we can go.”

Ciara laughed, “Clearly I need to write you up a fact book or something.”

“We’ll get it published or something,” Jordi replied with a matching laugh.

“Maybe we should play on the same team,” Val suggested as they approached the table. “I don’t think either of us wants a repeat of last time we played this.”

“We really should have bought something with us to carry all this with,” Lucinda mused, attempting to adjust the firewood in her arms. “Did they say how much they needed?” 

Jordi shook his head. “No they didn’t, but I suppose this should be enough, right? I’m sure they have other people gathering some too.”

“Just because you have sisters, doesn’t mean you have patience but I’ll believe you,” April said and then frowned a little when he answered her question about the flowers, “Oh, well they’re very pretty,” She was sure there was something he wasn’t telling her and the flowers looked like a rather romantic arrangement but she didn’t comment, “You going to the campfire? I thought maybe we could go together. 

“Yeah definitely, I’m totally down for that,” Jordi answered.

“You’re very sweet but I’m sure I will get on your nerves at certain points,” April said with a smile, her face flushing. She spotted the flowers he was boxing and raised a brow, “Oh, they’re pretty. Who are they for?”

“I have sisters, which means I have a lot of patience,” he joked. “Oh, uh, they’re just a graduation gift for someone, I think.” He was such an awkward liar, but he hoped it convinced her well enough.

“Your father had this plant? So you know exactly how to behave around this? Would it be strange to ask if I could take notes right now?”

“Depends if you’re going to ask me to meet him or something,” Jordi joked.

“If they’re able to control how long it would take for fusion to take in a star in a distant galaxy, then sure,” Wes laughed. “Not sure how useful of a power that would be, though.”

“But what if the power was like spontaneous black holes?”
