Nighttime Dip

It is the year 2145.  

For one hundred years the remaining humans of Earth have been living in a post-apocalyptic landscape.  In the year 2045, a small undocumented comet crashed into the Moon, shattering it.  The debris rained down on the Earth for weeks.  Some of the comet's debris also made it to Earth.  In the months that followed, before most life on earth perished, scientists discovered that there was a mutagen that was carried on the comet.  This "virus", for lack of a better term, only worked on humans with a Y chromosome.  Most men were turned into zombies, walking undead and killing due to hunger.  The virus also doubled their strength and their lifespan, but reduced rational thought. Women took control of society, or what was left.  All computer systems were wiped out due to the massive electrical disruptions caused by the impact of all the moon debris.  The strong protected the weak and in exchange, the weak gladly did the mundane chores.  Many small communities banded together for the common good, but those that did not were ravaged by the zombies. During the hundred years that have passed, some women who had a higher testosterone count started to mutate.  This was thought to occur due to the fact that almost every male was wiped out.  These women became "New-Half".  Their clitoris mutated into an actual penis.  Though they could not produce offspring, they were able to sexually satisfy partners.  These women were prized above all others and became co-leaders of many communities, holding the title of "Satisfier". The small amount of men that did survive were found to have done so by being protected by steel.  Whatever they were doing at the time of the event, they had to have been in a steel encased room.  These men are now rounded up for the sole purpose of their sperm.  They are kept in lavish rooms, but are, for the most part, nothing but "studs".  Only the best gene stock was kept.  Any man that showed the slightest hint of psychosis, be that murder, rape, arson, etc., was quickly killed.  Men that had a penchant for brutality were made to work hard labor; on pain of death should they disagree.  Those that were strong and virile, but fairly docile, were kept. 

 Many of the women who were scientists, engineers, and the like took it upon themselves to try to get utilities restarted.  Steam power made a large comeback.  Some things were able to be brought back, but only those things that mattered to women.  Medical facilities were brought back, but in small amounts.  All electrical power that was brought back was given over to this purpose.  OB-GYN was considered a necessity and to this day is still highly regarded.  Many nurses became village healers.  Doctors gathered in areas around local hospitals.  With the destruction of the human race, stem cell research became a top priority.
