Hello um hi yes autistic person here. PLEASE STOP ROMANTICISING AUTISM. I swear to gods it’s either always villainising it, or romanticising it

Also yes I know I don’t speak for all autistic people, and I’m not trying to. But I know that many autistic people, me included, don’t like the idea that “autism is a superpower.” I personally feel like it’s almost like people are trying to avoid calling it what it is, a disability, a neurological difference, etc. Just desperately trying to call it anything but what it actually is

If my autisticness is my superpower, then the only thing you’d see me doing as a superhero is crying from overstimulation, chewing on my clothes, info dumping about something extremely random and specific that no one has ever heard of, and spending far too much money on comfort plushies

I HAVEN’T FINISHED THE EPISODE YET BTW. But so far it’s been revealed that BeBe, who’s autistic, has super powers, and his classmates, who are also either autistic or neurodivergent in one way or another, also have superpowers. I’m sorry but I’m getting the ick right now. Just let these kids be kids pretty pleaseeee 😭
