Something I thought was one the coolest about the movie was that at the start, D16 and Orion relied a lot on each other. They thought of each other like "their other half" or in this case "their hero/person". But then as Orion started to learn more, change things, and to meet new bots, D16 very quickly saw that Orion was never "his" no matter how hard he pushed. Orion would always be that selfless, kind, and daring mech and when given the chance to change things to protect the innocent he would take it. And D16, now Megatron, wanted things his way, in his world, and used Orion as a “tether" to the world. That was, until his realization and Orion Pax suddenly became the black dot on a white painted canvas. And then when Orion Pax gathered the miners and later was titled Optimus Prime, he himself also realized that his "people" or heroes had always been the citizen of lacon and Cybertron.
