We are at the VIC or Visitor Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s in the Adirondacks of Upstate New York. One of my favorite trails is the Boreal Life Trail. We were at the Adirondack Museum (now called the Adirondack Experience) before it closed down due to the virus. On display in the small craft boating area were several race boats that plied the icey Adirondack lake waters early in the last century. These HUGE engines had lots of polished brass and were quite showy. They even had film of some of them racing. This was from El Legato.

At the Adirondack Museum (now called the Adirondack Experience) in Blue Mountain Lake in Upstate NY, there is a nice pond in the center. This is stocked with huge Trout which they feed a couple times a day. On the shore is a wall tent camp with rigid wood poles, two cot beds and comfortable accommodations. It’s on a wooden floor that extends out to a porch overlooking the pond.

The Adirondack Museum (now called the Adirondack Experience) in Blue Mountain Lake has many great exhibits from sporting art, canoes and Adirondack Guideboats, Railway cars, to small camping exhibits. When you come out of one of the display buildings at the Adirondack Museum (now called the Adirondack Experience) you come out on a balcony with an incredible view. This is Blue Mountain Lake which has been known as “The Jewel of the Adirondacks” for over a century. It is very blue and deep and has many beautiful islands. There are boat tours here or you can paddle there in your Canoe.

Outside one of the many buildings and exhibits of the Adirondack Museum (now called the Adirondack Experience) there is a patio and Ledge overlooking Blue Mountain Lake. The flowers here were fantastic and not only did I enjoy them but there was a large butterfly there feeding on the nectar. These butterflies are hard to get still enough to photograph.

There were many famous concoctions in the 1800’s in the Adirondacks for repelling bugs. Most often it was Blackflies and mosquitoes. In early Spring and into June there are clouds of Blackflies that try to make life miserable. We are walking around the Adirondack Museum (now called the Adirondack Experience) in Blue Mountain Lake in the mountains of Upstate NY. On the outer edge of the museum grounds were some original Adirondack “Camps”. This is the interior of one with a stone fireplace, Adirondack furniture made from birch sticks, and lovely diamond pane windows.

There was a large logging exhibit in the Forest Managenent section of the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, in Upstate NY. Now the museum is called the “Adirondack Experience”. This is the second fire tower to be put up in the Adirondacks in 1909 along with the cast iron plaque. They even let you climb up to the top of the stairs for a great view of the museum.

Here we are at the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirobdacks of Upstate NY. In the past it was called the Afirondack Guideboat Museum and had (and still does) a large collection of canoes, wooden boats and famous Adirondack Guideboats. Now the museum is called the Adirondack Experience and well worth a day’s visit.

Here we see a famous photo of a hotel in the Adirondacks in the late 1880’s. The photo is on exhibit as the Adirondack Guideboat Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, in the Adirondack Mountains of NY State. As you leave the Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida they have you leave opposite the classical columned side and go out the fancy new modern wing. Here you go out through the massive reflective glass wall to the side on the water with great views of the Yacht Basin and the new St Pete Pier.

Inside the New Wing of the Museum of Fine Arts

Here we are looking up at the open two story chamber of the New Wing of the St Pete Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The wall behind us is mostly glass and you can see out on the St Pete Yacht Basin. The beautiful ceiling is a continuous wave of metal with textured perforations. The floor is all large diamond shaped stones.

As we leave the St Pete Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida I took a photograph of the front. This section of the building is classical with stone walls and columns. In the extreme left you can see the newer two story wing that houses the new changing exhibits. I particularly like the palm trees in front.

There were several stained glass windows and shades at the St Pete Museum of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg, Florida. This beautiful multicolored leaded glass window was by American John La Farge (1835-1910) and done in 1890 entitled “Peonies in the Wind”. He used layers of glass and textures to give depth instead of traditional painting and staining.
