Study Beautifully

I went to a church service for the first time in about two years today. And I realized it probably still wasn’t for me, but it was a church in the denomination that I was raised, and it felt familiar, so I took the ashes for the beginning of lent.

I left the church and I entered my school, and I was almost immediately judged by my colleagues and even some of the people I’m closest to. They mocked me, they mocked Christianity. I was persecuted for wearing a symbol, for identifying with two religious cultures instead of one, for going at all. One of my best friends couldn’t comfortably be in a room with me because I was presenting a religious symbol (specifically Christian) on my person.
